strong 4.5 stars. Based on a group of reviews across multiple platforms we decided this would be our lunch stop during our visit to Sintra. We were delighted with this restaurant choice. A bit more casual at lunch with sidewalk dining, but be prepared if you’ve been comfortably touring town that you may feel underdressed in the white table-cloth dining room. Multiple well-dressed business people enjoying lunch. We were given one of the tables on the sidewalk (away from the business folks). Our server seemed a bit grumpy on our visit as he provided menus and asked about drinks. Planning to eat light, we chose some appetizers/small plates for our meal. The Iberian ham plate was as delicious as we expected-so smooth as to almost be sweet. They know how to do this so well in Portugal & Spain. Unfortunately, the bread served with this was underwhelming. Quite dry. My DW chose the crab and lobster soup. It smelled delicious, heady with that aroma of the sea. Asking her how she liked it, I was offered a taste. To both of us it tasted a little “fishy”. Not unpleasant but that flavor of seafood not 100% fresh. Maybe just our personal tastes. We also felt it was lacking in quantity of lobster/crab meat. Given all that, not a drop was left. The local cod ceviche sounded interesting as the menu calls it “unusual”. I order ceviche nearly every time I can so chose that. And a dish that would turn out to be quite possibly the most delicious thing I ate during 17 days in Portugal-Seared Scallops with Passionfruit Risotto. The ceviche was prepared with pieces of mango and bits of red onion and was redolent of really bright lemon flavor. With the number of lemon trees we saw in our travels, not surprising. Very fresh tasting-not fishy. I am always a bit leery ordering scallops-which I love-in a restaurant because I prefer them a little more on the done side rather than the light sear you find in many establishments. But I could tell immediately the three beauties served atop my passionfruit risotto were perfect. And they were. I had never chosen a risotto made with any type of fruit before. But this was a revelation. The flavor really exploded when eaten. Bright, citrusy, and deep. Like it had been simmered for hours to establish so much flavor (though it probably wasn’t). And this complemented the scallops sooo exceptionally. The two together was amazing. My wife said I was “glowing” while enjoying every bite. I could have ordered a second portion easily but I chose not to. Truly a dish I will remember for a long, long time. An added note, they serve the food here on some really attractive and unique plates. All the high ratings we had seen in other reviews were spot on. It’s a wonderful choice for enjoying a meal during a visit to Sintra. Highly recommended.

Incomum is truly an uncommon place! We were planning for some time to visit the castles in Sintra and have a nice lunch afterwards. Many of our friends recommended Incomum and, after a short research online, we understood the restaurant has an extremely good rating on all foodie portals - two fantastic reasons to try it out for ourselves ;) So on a beautiful September Saturday afternoon we decided to give Incomum a try. First positive point: extremely kind and professional service + the restaurant truly cares about the covid hygiene measures. The tables are properly distanced from each other and additionally separated by plexiglas transparent dividers (perfect idea that made us very comfortable!). Second: the food is simply delicious. We were quite hungry so we ordered one appetizer (shrimps), two full dishes (guinea fowl and a risotto) and two full desserts (pudim and a special Incomum style tiramisu). All the food was served very fast and with great care. The dishes were tasty and the chef has visibly given his own signature spin on each recipe. Do try the risottos, if you get the chance! And the tiramisu if you will have enough space left for a dessert ;) Third: the location within Sintra is very convenient and allows you to take a nice walk either before or after your meal. All in all, our experience at Incomum deserved a strong 5/5 rating. Highly recommended for a nice day out in Sintra! (Big thank you to Telmo for his kindness and spending some time talking to us about Incomum!)

One of the worst experiences of waiter service in our lives. We were a party of three sitting in the front room by the door. Our gum-chewing table server didn’t bring us drinks for a good 20 min after we ordered them from him. The table next to us got seated half an hour after us yet they were served their food first. When we asked for maybe a bread, the waiter with irritation said it’s coming with our dishes. When we asked for a refill of beer, salt and more water (all together because he was gone for so long and it was difficult to get his attention), first he came and brought wine he forgot, then 10 min later beer, another 10 min later salt (I’ve already finished the dish for which I needed salt for), and the water never came until I asked for it again. Etc etc etc don’t want to waste my time writing anymore, but this continued all evening. Let’s say the attitude of our waiter was downright rude, dirty dishes were taken alway from the table selectively, one at a time. He was nice to one person in our group asking him for a dessert. Me and my other friend weren’t asked! That was just shocking. Was he being rude to us in purpose? This question remains unanswered… Experience ruined. Food - alternated from excellent appetisers - cheese/meat plate and clams) to mediocre lobster soup, insipid gaspaccio, and not very special burrata. It then fluctuated from excellent salmon to unchewable meat and overcooked shrimp. Overall it left a bad taste in our mouths and hearts.

I recently dined at Incomum restaurant in Sintra, and unfortunately, my experience was not as positive as I had hoped. From the moment we walked in, the welcome we received was less than warm. We were initially seated at a small table near the front door, and when we requested to be moved inside, the staff did so reluctantly. We started our meal with the crab and lobster soup, which was decent, but nothing exceptional. The squid ink pasta was tasty, although the shrimp was overcooked. The highlight of the meal was the mushroom risotto with scallop, which was flavorful and well-prepared. However, when the octopus dish arrived, it was clear that something was amiss. The dish tasted spoiled, and the texture of the octopus was mushy. When we brought this to the attention of our waiter, instead of apologizing, the manager insisted that the dish was cooked perfectly. To make matters worse, when it came time to settle the bill, we were charged for the octopus dish that we had returned. This left a sour taste in our mouths and marred the overall experience. It was disappointing to receive such subpar service and be charged for a dish that we did not even consume. Overall, my dining experience at Incomum restaurant was a letdown. Despite hearing positive reviews about this place, the lackluster service and subpar quality of some dishes left much to be desired. I would hesitate to recommend this restaurant based on my own experience.

Incomum by Luis Santos is a nice little surprise in Sintra. This is a very good contemporary restaurant situated along Rua Doutor Alfredo da Costa, just a few minutes from the rail station. They are open from 12pm to 12am daily (closed on Wednesdays) and have a fair-sized indoor seating area, a few seats outdoor and a wine bar next door as well. Reservations during peak meal times is recommended. We had dinner here during a recent stay in Sintra and very much enjoyed everything served. Padron pepper starter was a good way to begin our meal. The Octopus with spinach and roasted potato main was very good. Even better was the guinea fowl with Chevre and beets risotto, a dish we'd gladly reorder the next time around. Dishes were presentable, fresh and demonstrated good skill in the kitchen. After mains we tried two desserts. The 70% Cocoa Chocolate Fondant with Raspberry and sorbet was nice, good for the chocolate lover. More interesting and enjoyed was the Incomum signature Olive Oil Pudding, pineapple sorbet & carpaccio served with a bit of Azores Cheese. This one challenges your pallet a bit while tasting really nice. Give it a try if you are feeling a bit more adventurous. Overall, we found Incomum by Luis Santos to be a really good restaurant in Sintra. This is a place we would gladly return to again the next time we are around.

Incomum is a must visit when visiting Sintra! Very convenient location right next to the Sintra train station. Their lunch executivo menu is an exquisite deal for 12,50 euro, you get a glass of wine, bread with olives, a soup or salad, a main entree, and a desert. For two people, adding an extra glass of wine, iberico sausage platter, and two cafe's, we dined luxuriously for under 38€. For the executive menu, we ordered the pumpkin cream soup, which had a mild aromatic palate - perfect to stir your appetite. The seabass in pumpkin puree had a harmonious flavour - the sweet puree balanced the savoury fish, which had a crisp skin and grilled eggplant and tomato sandwiched within. The eggplant and tomato complemented the fish very well and brought out the freshness of the seabass. The duck magret was also served in a puree. The duck was perfectly charred, providing a complex taste when combined with the savoury gravy and citrus notes of the puree. The desserts that followed were a satisfying close to the meal The chocolate tart was rich and decadent, while the Portuguese almond tart was a lovely blend of creamy sweet egg yolk, crunchy almonds, complemented by just the right amount of tart raspberry drizzle on the side. Arrive early (they open at 12pm) or make a reservation!
