The 4 stars here is a simply a reflection of the location, as the outside dining does not present the best of Tomar’s views. However the owner has a hand in everything, the quiet but strong shepherd, while his flamboyant wife is the cheerleader! The staff are wonderful, attentive (despite being under some pressure without a vacant table in sight). Kind, cheerful and each armed with a beaming smile, everyone was very appreciative. I did not have high hopes when they handed me a menu printed in English but I was 100% wrong. This place serves inventive twists on standard Portuguese cuisine. The octopus was fork tender and the migas it sat upon was the best I have had since moving to Portugal almost two years ago. The secretos do porco preto was perfectly cooked. We (couple) went there on a 30°C day after a long visit for lunch, got a table quickly but that was the only thing quick in this restaurant. 15min to take our order, another 20min to bring a beer and a bottle of water and after 15-20min more waiting, I decided to leave.
