Bucharest is a great city, don’t let this restaurant ruin your day!
I’ve been to Bucharest 12 times and this is by far the worst experience i’ve had at a restaurant!
The waiters, not welcoming at all told us it would take 40min (“maybe less” he said when he saw us debating wether we should stay or not). We decided to stay. After 55min I asked if I could pay for the drinks and leave because it was taking too long. The waiter rudely asked “are you joking?” He then said 2 min and the food will be ready. It arrived after 1h15min - double the initial time!
A table that came after us received their food before us. We realized later that they know the chef, since he came to say hello.
The food was average or less for Italian. I had salmon bits in my mushroom risotto, they used the same apoon for two different dishes in the kitchen.
On top of all of this, my friend found hair in his pasta!
No apologies, no updates on the food, rude staff etc.
UPDATE
Reply from Il Peccato owner is him accusing me of being a drug user because i gave him a bad review. And still, no apology before and no apology now. Advise from an incidental customer: learn some manners and how to be a professional!
Also, note my review was written on the spot while sitting at the table. I don’t usually write reviews, but This was such a bad experience that I had to warn future customers. I just hope people read my review...
Read moreI ate at Il Peccato, at least once a weak (sometimes two or even three times a week) for over a year. This will either show you how biased I am, or how much I enjoyed this restaurant.
There are a lot of restaurants in the Bucharest's Old Town and you can find almost every kind of food, for all types of budgets but if you are like me, and want to enjoy great food for a decent price, the lunch menu (happy hour) from Il Pecato has no rivals. Period.
They have an á la carte menu as well, and the food and wine selections are great, no doubt, but I'll focus on what I tested rather intensively 😅: both the turkey (tacchino Il Peccato al forno) and the beef (vitello da latte al forno) served with toasted bread with foie gras and mushrooms (crostini toscani) with cabbage salad are so good they kept me and many of my friends and colleagues coming back for more, over and over.
The pizzas are great, maybe the best quattro formaggi I ever had. The pasta selection is just as good and I can recommend to try their spaghetti di mare and tell me otherwise.
I could go on and on, but I'll finish by saying that many of the waiters there really enjoy their job and are contributing to the overall great experience.
One final word, this one of the few places in Bucharest where you can add the tip on the bill and pay it...
Read moreWe visited this place just before Easter. The food was nice and our waiter was good(a bearded guy), but his colleague was a disaster. While passing by our table I asked for the menu after our initial order, he looked at me like I offended him and said rudely "The menu? You have it on the table, you can scan the QR code." He then brought a menu reluctantly wondering how stupid I can be to ask for a menu in a restaurant.
Since we were with a baby in a baby chair we folded the tablecloth so the baby cannot destroy it. The same guy came to serve our food and asked us "What is this?", needless to say that asking such a question without a context is quite rude, especially in a restaurant. I explained why we cleared the table's side and he said "I can't serve the food like this, my boss will kill me!", fortunately our waiter came and used his common sense to tell him that this is fine, since we have not done anything wrong.
As you can see, despite the good food and the good waiter we had, his colleague managed to spoil the experience as much as he could.
P.S. Boss, please don't kill your waiters for such things, simply hire smarter ones so your business...
