Edit: This is an edit to an older review, which was very good. The thing is, Hard Rock Bucharest is a hit-or-miss kind of place.Twice now we got there only to be summarily relegated to the terrace meant for smokers. But last night was truly horrible, and I wish we had just left from the start.
I booked a week in advance, for three plus a dog, in the COVERED TERRACE FOR NON-SMOKERS. That was the location we chose, but when we got there we were told that, unfortunately, the terrace we booked was full and we have to be seated on the other terrace (for smokers). This other terrace was not closed, and last night was close to freezing. It was awfully cold and so smoky, we couldn't breathe. But we stayed, because we were promised that, as soon as a table opens up, we'll be moved. To be clear, I checked - not 1, not 2, but 3 tables became free and stayed so, but no on came to move us... We remained there, alternating between choking on cigarette smoke and freezing, for the duration of what has been the most awful, not to mention DISGUSTING, pathetic excuse for a meal we've had to endure.
In short ... by all means, go to Hard Rock, if you want to have your evening ruined and waste money on food you won't be able to taste, all while risking second-hand lung cancer. Enjoy. For ourselves, however, we won't be back.
Great place. Some 20 years ago, while living in Moscow, we used to go to the local Hard Rock Cafe, and it was horrible. Worst Cobb salad ever! Since then, living in other big cities in Europe, we were always kind of cautious about eating at Hard Rock - so traumatised were we after the "Russian" experience. Well, I'm glad to report that the Hard Rock Cafe in Bucharest is NOTHING like that :D The food is not going to win any health-food competitions, but boy is it tasty...! The service is crisp, well trained people taking care of the customer quickly and politely. The heated terrace is pet-friendly. Burgers are to die for, nachos, very yummy. Desserts are literal heart-stoppers, but great for sharing. The atmosphere is relaxed. Not...
Read moreWhat can be said about a restaurant that has branches in just about every capital city and several major cities, that hasn’t been said before. The decor is exactly as expected lots of memorabilia hung everywhere, with some genuinely interesting pieces. However, don’t be fooled by the quantity, all that glitters is definitely not gold. Many of the items on display are merely band posters the likes of which can be found on many a persons walls at home, in fact about a third of things on display fall into this category. This is no bad thing but given the amount of musical artists in the world and the amount of money these places must make, I am sure they could afford to purchase a few more actual items of interest to display. It would also be nice to see some items of local interest on display in each city rather than having 90% of the stuff from American and UK bands. Anyway I’ll step down off my soap box now and get on with the rest of the review. The food was OK, relatively tasty but nothing really deserving of the price. Youngest had a. Burger which was good but not the best of the week. I had a duo combo which was tasty but once again nothing to write home about. Wife and eldest daughter shared a platter, this was easily big enough for two and they enjoyed it enough. I had a gin and tonic called a Gin Genie (Guilty of being a big Bowie fan) this was enjoyable and more satisfying than the food. Service was good but we found them to be like flies around the dinner table, always hovering around, it got a little annoying by the end. Over all it was quite as expected but found it to be not as good as HRC Berlin. One last note, the gift shop is expensive, more expensive than can be really justified. I know it’s a tourist trap but 75 Ron for a glass, 145 Ron for a small teddy, that’s really pushing the boundaries of what you would consider...
