Trattoria Colosseum — Restaurant in Bucharest

I think we can all agree that , sometimes looks are deceiving. Well this place was exactly that, what turned out to look nice but the complete opposite. When sat down m, i automatically recognized the smell of cat piss or a litter box, then to be greeted by what seems to be a nice waitress, took my order, got a glass of wine and fries , and ordered garlic mayo. I got the glass of wine within 10 minutes , it was a 3/10 , very bitter and the only glass of white wine they had. Then , my fries came out after waiting 30 minutes just for them to be loaded with greese , and to still have Greese dripping from the fries , these were probably the worst fries I’ve ever had. Then to make matters worst the waitress asked for a tip , I told her I don’t think it’s deserved by the service, she goes “ its okay , your an amazing customer”, just for me to get up and here her talking behind my back mocking me to her coworkers. Worst experience will never come back or recommend this...

TOURISTS BEWARE!!! The place wasn’t really busy when we sat down. Took almost an hour to get any of the food we’ve ordered mind you we also ordered salads that shouldn’t take this long. Food was good, service HORRIBLE! The guy that was serving us was obviously overwhelmed, had no manners and didn’t know how to talk to customers even though we weren’t needy at all. When the food arrived we had to wait 5 more minutes to get utensils and condiments. Our server came to the table twice. First time to bring the food and second time to bring the bill. He was really rude and was rushing us to figure out the bill and stood by the table because “he had to pay the kitchen”. He took the money, then 2 minutes later came back yelling and accused us of shortening the bill 200lei, basically called us thieves. I’M NOT RECOMMENDING THIS ESTABLISHMENT AT ALL, THERE WAY BETTER PLACES AND SERVICE DOWN...

We went there yesterday, the food and service were okay, nothing exceptional but acceptable.

However, the payment experience was very disappointing. When I declined to leave a tip, the server became visibly angry and repeatedly asked why we wouldn’t tip. She raised her voice and insisted that tipping is mandatory in Romania, which created a very uncomfortable and hostile situation. I explained that I also work in hospitality and that tips should never be demanded. Her response was: “In your country maybe, but here you tip!”.

I tip when I feel it’s deserved. But pressuring or guilt tripping customers into tipping is not acceptable behavior. If staff feel underpaid, that’s something to raise with management not with guests who are just trying to enjoy a meal.
