I was drinking here alone on Easter Monday and the bar was empty so I sat at the front bar to try and engage with the staff. Coming from Australia, where craft beer is much more celebrated than Romania, I felt I had a perspective to offer to the staff regarding the topic. Frankly, they were quite hostile and not interested in engaging in conversation despite speaking English. However, this is not why I have given them one star - I left my backpack at the front bar unattended for no more than two minutes while I used the bathroom, when I came back my USB power bank, which I had been using to charge my iPhone visibly on the front bar and subsequently stored in my backpack while I attended the bathroom, had gone missing from my backpack. As stated, there was no one else inside the bar at the same time, leading me to conclude that one of the bar staff must have taken it. I had no idea what to say, I did not know how to broach the subject without accusing them, and so instead left the bar. I have never had an experience in any country like this in my life, where genuine interest is met with hostility, let alone staff stealing from their patrons. Perhaps I offended them by sitting at the front bar?
EDIT after owner replied
Are you joking? The power bank was IN MY BACKPACK when I went to the bathroom, not left on the bar. The only way someone else could end up with it is to have OPENED UP my backpack and taken it from there. I was not drunk at the time, and even if I was, there is no level of intoxication that would leave me so stupid as to leave an expensive electronic item unattended in a foreign place. You have just admitted to stealing from me. Your bar is an absolute joke. Average and incredibly overpriced 'craft' beer, terrible service, thieves. It couldn't survive anywhere else in the world other...
Read moreAs English tourists on a visit to Romania we stumbled across this bar. It offers craft beers (and a cider or two) on draught and many more in bottles. At time of writing a draught beer costs 12 Lei which equates to roughly £2.40. The beer itself was delicious and will cater to all tastes from Lager to Ale drinkers. The bar had a lovely laid back sense with amazingly helpful staff. The food was inexpensive and delicious and compliments the beer very well. In our week in the city we must have spent atleast four full nights in this bar just enjoying the quality beer on offer. So much so we will miss this beer very much on our return to the UK as there is nothing quite like it. This is a must visit bar, for anyone, from anywhere. My only hope is that this makes it to the UK as it would be amazingly received. Zaganu is most definitely the best beer Romania has to...
Read moreWhat a great place! Came here twice in a short visit to Bucuresti and I couldn’t have enough of Zăganu 8, their New England/Hazy IPA. I even bought bottles from a shop run by Mihai in Centru Vechi because I became addicted. Zăganu is doing great craft beer; I know IPAs and I’m a big fan of this brewery.
Bogdan at Fabrica is a great guy and a great host. Wife had an excellent latte too. Beer selection is fantastic, and while we did not have the occasion to try the food, we will be back to try for sure on our next visit to the Buc. On the merits of beer, a lovely space, and Bogdan’s warm spirit, I’ll be back 10/10. Highly recommend if you are a...
