The night before we went to the other La Ceaun, in Weiss. We liked it so much that we wanted to repeat, but we fancied some of the dishes in the other menu so we came here, to the one in Piata Sfatului.
We ordered ciorbe, which was excellent like the day before and because we were rushing and they were pretty filling, we jumped to the desert. The papanasi was otherworldly. One of the best desserts I've tried in a restaurant. I can only assume that the rest of the food that I didn't get to enjoy this time would be equally delicious.
The only negative points were the ambience, pretty crowded and noisy during the lunch time, but unavoidable, and the service, which wasn't as nice as the one from its sibling restaurant in Weiss.
I wasn't allowed to pay with my phone after a first attempt (when I was promted to unlock my phone and try again). So I had to pay with a physical card that will charge me for the currency exchange, despite that the night before I could pay with phone in the other restaurant. The waiter must've been in a rush, although the whole transaction took around 30 seconds. He didn't look very happy either, avoiding eye contact when we tried to get his attention to order and kicking chairs while setting up the empty tables. Maybe just a bad day that won't spoil my experience.
Also, be warned about the possible waiting lines and the impossibility of making a reservation, specially if you come with...
Read moreCame here because I was in the mood for "in-bread soup". We had no reservations, but the very friendly staff found us some great seats near the window, looking out at the Christmas Market.
The place has an awesome look and decor, loved the brick ceiling, unique lamps, wooden table and couch, and also the creative coat hangers on the wall. Awesome!
Shortly after we settle down Cătălin, came over to get our order. To my surprise the food was on our table seconds after we ordered it... I mean, seriously, I had longer waiting time at a fast food... :D
The soup was not what I expected... I was used to more of a "bun shape" bread, while this is was more like a "muffin shape" but nonetheless, it was delicious! I know it's not really custom for many people, but I like to eat the entire course: soup and bread, and I have too say, it was exquisite!
I also delighted myself with the pork ribbs and garlic sauce. I gotta say I'm a big fan of ribs and these didn't disappoint! The garlic sauce was to-die-for and that addition of sour cabbage really tied everything togheter! However the chips were not what I expected. The menu lists potatoes so I was expecting fries or wedges, but the chips were OK.
The blueberry-lemonade (afinadă) was another nice surprise!
Thank you "La ceaun" for a delightful dinner and thank you Cătălin for a 5 star serving experience! Will definitely come back next time I...
