During my recent trip to St. Petersburg, Russia, I fortuitously discovered this authentic Indian restaurant that took me straight to the heart of Indian culinary delights.
From the moment we stepped in, we were welcomed by the warm and inviting ambiance, reminiscent of an authentic Indian eatery. The staff, exuding genuine hospitality, made us feel right at home.
The culinary adventure began with the freshly prepared samosas, a delightful combination of crispy pastry and flavorful fillings. Each bite was a testament to the chef's dedication to authenticity and quality.
The garlic naan, served warm and perfectly charred, was a revelation. Its aromatic and buttery goodness paired harmoniously with every dish we sampled. The aloo gobi subzi, a beloved classic, was a flavorful medley of potatoes and cauliflower, perfectly seasoned to perfection.
The highlight of the meal, however, was the vegetable biryani. Fragrant and aromatic, it was a symphony of spices that danced on my palate. The tender vegetables nestled amongst the perfectly cooked rice were a testament to the chef's mastery of this iconic dish.
What truly set this Indian hotel apart was the attention to detail and the commitment to using fresh, high-quality ingredients. Each dish was a work of art, carefully crafted to bring out the authentic flavors of Indian cuisine.
I recommend this place to anyone seeking an authentic taste of India in the...
Read moreTerribly bad experience. We went there on a Saturday night, the restaurant is extremely loud. There was a live music performance going on which was quite nice. But they decided to also play very loud cheap and 3rd grade Bollywood music, which created a complete cacophony of noises. When we asked them to turn down the music, they said people don't like the live music. Very disrespectful (towards the musicians "who were actually very good!!") and unprofessional answer. The food was ok. Samosa tasted really good. I ordered a tomato shorba, it was a disaster! Extremely salty and oily. The waiter ( one in particular, lean and short) was just running around and only wanted to impress the Russian guests, completely ignored us. Surely they are not well trained and haven't handled similar restaurants before. They decorated the restaurant in some cheap Adam's family theme, very dark and disturbing, not hygienic at all. We went there reading all the excellent reviews and were taken for a shock. Ruined our vacation. If you want to go there for a nice and quiet evening with family and friends, please DON'T! probably best to visit this place when you are drunk and out of...
Read moreNot sure how this place gets 4.4 in the reviews, but maybe --as we shall see-- there is a reason after all.
From the moment I stepped in, I felt unwelcome, unwanted and insulted. The staff makes it very clear from its body language, mannerism and behavior that 'we do not want to serve you'. The food quality is below average and on top of it, my tiny order took close to 40 min. I had spent almost 2 weeks without proper Indian food and wanted to taste it here, only to find that the sabji was sour and lacked taste.
Of course during the waiting time, a certain staff member stared at me constantly (also almost threw the plates on my table); lacks even basic courtesy/politeness.
You see, the idea is to create "exotic" ambience and serve "exotic" food for a certain type of clientele, who obviously doesn't know what authentic Indian food is like. (In fact, you can find 'interesting' reviews of this place, right here on Google, from the members of the same clientele and take your own call -- I can only speak for myself).
So think twice before you go if you're not from that gullible group of clients. You've...
