O'Hooligans — Restaurant in Palace District

Okay first of all this place is very expensive and the service is the worst I have experienced so far in St Petersburg.

IF you love paying a lot more than you should for every single thing that is mediocre than you should come here!

First we arrived at this place asking literally for 'a table for two outside' which yes in English, the girl notted and continued passing us and walked inside. Later she comes back out with a Russian menu?! When we asked for an Englsh menu, this waitress (women with dreadlock hair) immediately started to sound annoyed at us and made that 'Tszsed' sound in front of her customers. Not saying anything she left and came back with the English menu.

Then we ordered some sides/snacks, steak and a burger. Just letting you know beforehand, the fries doesn't come with sauce! AND don't order any softdrinks because it's bottled pepsi for 280 each! (funny fact is I walked in to the bar later asked how much a pepsi costs lol and the bartender said 230, which really surprises me.. might have actually gotten scammed here)

Besides.. We have ordered a steak medium rare, which came definitely above medium (it was not red inside but just rose ish) and for some 'more' raw eaters' you could call it medium+ because it was rose and not rare from the inside at all. We let the waitress know immediately that send it back inside just to send 3 waitresses out (in total) that didn't spoke English, to let us know it is medium rare. On top of this what made us even more surprised is that none of these waitresses provide us any solution as in: "Can we offer you something else", "Shall we get you a new one that is less cooked". No instead she tells me (even I showed her a picture of how it should look like from google, which she replies with that's 'blue' and that's only IN pictures and not real) I SHOULD NOT order any meat here because that's our medium rare AND I should choose something else if I want.

Usually when you send something back you expect the restaurant is willing to provide you one that is in this case cooked right or providing any other solutions instead of sending 3 person out who doesn't speak English and very annoying to have your customer explaining it 3 times and having to argue. (Many restaurants in Russia we have been to asked us to cut it to check whether it is okay with us which did not happen here, but instead there are willing to argue with their customers that it is medium rare, but what they don't know that after some time it sitting and arguing, it will oxidize and become how they want to make me believe)

They eventually took it off the bill, because I didn't want to eat it obviously also didn't got a new one because she just didn't understand my story. But honestly.. after 10 minutes do you still even want to give your customer back the food that she complained about and expect her to eat it that's probably already cold, just because you don't understand but still argues with me?

Please improve your service and your food and I might come back to check it out here. I have read some of the other bad reviews and do agree and understand some that were mentioned.

Until then.. don't recommend here. I think this place is good for the beer, but the food was definitely nothing special.

Greetings, from a girl you tried to argue with that runs a 300+ seats meat restaurant from Amsterdam that has travelled over 40 countries and have had definitely much better before.

And common 280 for a pepsi bottle? common lol even as said by the owner "for a different wallet', literally a scam. The pepsi is pepsi, it's not gonna taste much better. Same goes what someone said about 130/160 for a bottle of water.. you're not selling holy water or any better...

It's a quite nice Irish pub with a good beer selection. I didn't quite like those I choose though and one of the reasons is that they don't have an English menu which, for an Irish pub is a bit annoying. More annoying is the fact that they made us wait 20 minutes and a couple of direct requests to have the change back from the bill. It is my choice of and how much tip to leave. Their justification being that they wanted to wait to see if we were going to leave is totally unsatisfactory, especially...

I really love the pub! My favorite in St Petersburg actually. They have a vast selection of beer and the staff knows them all and they will give you just what you want. The food is also always very good, I've tried deferent stuff and all of it was perfect. The prices are a just a bit higher than in some other places.
