Be Cautious – Overcharging Issue

I recently visited Let’s Rock Bar and, unfortunately, had an unpleasant experience with the billing. After ordering two beers and a pizza (which was served cold), the bartender initially showed me a total of 916 rubles on a calculator. When I handed over 950 rubles, he claimed the correct amount was 1,400 rubles, saying it was for three items.

Feeling something was off, I asked for the receipt, and that’s when the situation escalated. The bartender got visibly nervous and created a bill that included an extra beer and additional pizza toppings to justify the higher total. Knowing I couldn’t read Russian, he likely hoped I wouldn’t notice. However, I used Google Lens to translate the receipt and discovered the overcharge.

When I confronted him, he apologized and claimed it was a mistake, saying he had accidentally charged for my drink twice. While I appreciate the apology, it’s clear that something wasn’t right.

My review isn’t meant to harm the bar owner, but to bring attention to a situation that could easily happen to unsuspecting travelers. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any contact details to report this directly to management. I hope the bar addresses this issue to avoid similar incidents...

Let’s Rock bar is quite good. Drinks are reasonably priced and good music. The only thing that lets them down is the nasty man who was working in the cloak room last night. He took my jacket, and did not give me a tag to reclaim the jacket at the end of the night. I then decided that I wanted my jacket back immediately as I didn’t want to risk not being able to have my jacket at the end of the evening. When I asked for it he replied “NO!”. I tried speaking with him to get my jacket back, he claimed I never put a jacket in. I then spoke to another security guard and he couldn’t speak English, he did however redirect me to another one that could. He was lovely and assisted me in reclaiming my jacket. The burly idiot who was on a power trip had moved my jacket further back in the closet from where it was hung when I gave it to him. I will not return to this bar as I feel the cloakroom service is terrible and...

I visit this place regularly.

Pros:

1. Good ol' rock music (you'll probably recognize most of the songs played there. Otherwise, it would sound so good that you will be forced to Shazam it)
2. Good and cheap shots – at some hours you can get a good discount on them (I recommend "Gregory" and "Gregory 2" with grapevine; regular cocktails are also served there, but there's nothing interesting about them)
3. Generally, it's cheap
4. Hookah is available
