Bolshoi — Restaurant in Tverskoy District

Excellent, finely prepared menu items. Ambiance romantic, beautiful dining rooms with candles and flowers and cushy chairs. Wine: We wanted a white, smooth wine on the sweet side, but not too sweet. We were recommended an Alsace Gewurztraminer which turned out to be fabulous. Food: Duck pate - was perfect and abundant. It came in a pretty large jar with bread. Not too strong, just right amount of flavour, and it was very smooth. Burrata - was also excellent! It came in a full round that we delightfully cut open. Perfectly milky. Not a fan of beet root though. Chicken kiev - this was the highlight of the night. It looked like a large, breaded drumstick, but when you cut it open, there was no bone, only meat, and a butter herb sauce just poured out of the chicken. It was extremely tender and tasty. Crab and crayfish julienne with wild rice - the rice was very fragrant (think pulut hitam/ black rice). Wasn't crazy about the crab and crayfish mix, though it was tasty enough. Cottage cheese cake - didn't think much of this. I suspect they mixed this up with our pumpkin cheesecake that we ordered instead. Pear tart - visually very impressive. But it was just baked pear in a tart shell. Still...

It is one of Novikov’s restaurants and I would have rated it as one of the best. They have a beautiful terrace. We were 3, but had a tables for 6 ( Geneva restaurants are in perplexity now 😂😂). It has two big rooms with empire style decoration with a furniture from Ralph Laurent and paintings of modern art. It is worth to walk along the vintage stairs leading to the toilets. I am a globe trotter, I’ve visited many beautiful restaurants, but never seen toilets decorated the way it is in Bolshoi. The food and service merits another few lines. They have a risotto with chanterelles which is melting in the mouth. My mother had a quinoa cutlets - delicious. Gaspacho was as tasty, as it has been created in Spain 🇪🇸 My husband had a salmon tartare which was fantastic. Their deserts merit another drops of lines. Our famous Napoleon has been baked as delicious as an nice old days by my Mamma. Fantasmagorique! No words enough to describe how tasty is the food and how excellent the service is. I went today to bolshoi resturant , unfortunatly i was disappointed with low quality of service , first the lady reciption ask us to remove the caught and we went insides , then one waitress told us one section is closed and only half of resturant is open for seating , we sat on table, then another waitress come told us that this table is reserved and i need to wait for someone to seat me and she was repeating this loudly many time .

The resturant was literally empty , How suppose to know that this reserved if no sign there and how i know that i need to wait if the recpecionst didn’t say anything .

Then when i went to the reception lady to complain about this treatment, she even don’t speak English, so they don’t explain well but then they mistreat customers and embarrse them . Really disappointed in this service, first time i had this bad treatment After that i went to another nearby coffeeshop and they speak English fluently and they had good service quality, so i was superised with this restaurant...
