Stepping into The Camelot in Novi Sad feels like stumbling into a medieval Netflix series — if that series also served meat and smiled at you. The place oozes charm, with Arthurian-themed décor that’s equal parts cozy tavern and royal man-cave. Suits of armor? Check. Flickering torches? Probably fake, but the vibe is real. And the staff? Warm, welcoming, and not one of them tried to joust me. Big win.
I went full knight mode and ordered the ribs with honey glaze. They arrived in just 6 minutes and 3 seconds — which either means they’re suspiciously efficient or a time wizard works in the kitchen. I had questions, sure. But then I took a bite and instantly forgot how to spell “scepticism.”
The ribs were delicious. Tender, juicy, falling off the bone like they’d just surrendered. The honey glaze, though? Maybe Sir Lancelot tripped and emptied the whole jug. It was sweet. Like, borderline dessert sweet. A touch less honey and it would’ve been perfect — but I was still too busy licking my fingers to complain out loud.
The sides were no afterthought either. The kraut brought a lovely zing, and the sauce tied it all together like the sword in the stone — if the sword were covered in gravy. Everything hit the spot.
And the best part? The price. It’s honestly one of the most affordable spots to stuff yourself silly with hearty, medieval-style meat dishes. You’ll leave full, happy, and ready to lead a siege. Or at...
Read moreThe menu is completely in Serbian, but between our knowledge of Russian and our willing to be adventurous, it wasn't a big deal. We started with a dark draft (tamno). It was pretty decent. Nothing that I would go out of my way to get normally but much better than I was expecting in Serbia. We didn't know it at the time, but they brew their own beers. (I recommend using Google translate on their tavern page. Supposedly, their beers prevent hangovers and are recommended for pregnant women. Ha.)
The food was heavy and salty but still tasty. We ordered the Kobasica, which was a cheesy sausage served with two kinds of mustard and sauerkraut, and the Ćureći Medaljon, chicken breasts in a bacony sauce [made with pork lard perhaps?] with potato wedges and fried veggies. Other than the chicken being a little overcooked, the meals were fine. Something I really liked was that all of the heavy meals had a smaller option (mala). Usually at a restaurant like that you are forced to buy very large dishes. I also loved the bread in the bread basket -- very light and airy, perfect for sopping up sauce from the plate.
The waitress was friendly and put up with our attempts to speak Serbian. She spoke enough English that we were able to get through the meal just fine.
Note that the entrance is not on Sremska but rather around the corner on...

Moving from 4 to 3 stars. The place has serious issues with waiters. The food is OK though.
September 2022:
The place has gotten pretty good over the last couple of times I visited. Especially the quality of the food was good, but also the beer. The service could be more standard, in the sense that some waiters are super professional and friendly, while some others are less so.
Past (before 2020):
The place had its ups and downs with periods of functioning as one of the best places that I knew, and also the periods when I wouldn't go near to the place. All the problems were mostly with the staff. Some of them were super professional and friendly. Then there was a sudden shift due to a beaf between the owner and some of the (best) staff. Then the place rapidly deteriorated resulting in terrible staff (some still working today). Some of my friends still won't come near the place, as they were once...
