After my Serbian language class, I ventured to Thai Zone Novi Sad with a friend. Deep in conversation, I wasn't expecting much more than a quick bite. However, what unfolded was a delightful adventure for the palate and a testament to the warmth of Serbian hospitality.
New to Thai cuisine, I apprehensively ordered the "spicy" chili chicken. The dish arrived alongside a colorful array of sauces, each meticulously explained by the attentive staff. The first bite shattered my initial indifference. This wasn't ordinary.
The spice was a revelation. Like my past adventures – trekking Mount Elbrus or a nail bed standing – it tested my limits. My taste buds were a warzone, a fiery inferno tempered by an undeniable deliciousness. I soldiered on, savoring the complex flavors through the pain. Resisting the urge for water, I pushed through, a culinary summit conquered within the comfortable embrace of Thai Zone's vibrant interior. Slowly, with each determined bite, my taste buds adjusted, transforming the heat into a vibrant symphony.
By the last morsel, I'd learned to appreciate the fire, the "rainbow of tastes" dancing beneath. The "deep-fried banana" dessert, a work of art itself, extinguished the lingering heat with its sweet, gentle touch.
Food, I realized, could be a challenge, an embrace, a revelation. Thai Zone Novi Sad redefined my culinary compass. Our conversation with the hosts, Vesna and Milan, was equally enriching. Their passion for their craft, their adventurous spirit in experimenting with flavors, and their travels across Thailand – are all fuelling their desire to break the mold and create their own brands of magic within the fiery realm of Thai cuisine.
I left satiated, pleasantly "battered" by the experience, and deeply grateful for the opportunity to explore a new...
Read moreI don't even know where to start… It was probably the worst Thai food that I ate in my life. I ordered tom yum, pad kra pao and mango sticky rice. Of course I didn’t expect 100% authenticity, thought “all right, it will be less spicy then original, probably no galangal in my soup, no holly basil in pad kra pao but how else it can go wrong?”. Oh boy I was wrong! Carrots, daikon, corn and champignons in tom yam?! Seriously? You call it spicy but it has zero spice in it. Have you even ever heard about fish sauce? This place serves rice with parsley on top. There is no parsley in Thai cuisine! At all! Not even a bit! Pad kra pao was just a generic spicy rice dish with meat. If you don’t have holly basil don’t be at least stingy with a regular one. Mango sticky rice wasn’t better then the rest. Do you really consider that if you overcook jasmine rice it magically becomes a glutinous rice? The answer is no, it doesn’t. Zero salt, watery sauce and unripe mango. Terrible. I do not recommend this place to anyone who has at least the smallest idea about what Thai food is, those people will be utterly...
