Went in 19/7/23 around 2pm+ after the lunch crowd. Only about 2 table occupied.
Recommended by my China friend saying better than HDL. 1st time trying. So very high expectations after the recommendation and also given the price.
Were seated immediately upon entering. Guided to seat just in front of kitchen. Those bench type seat.
Seats were very tiny and straight. No leg room for leg to stretch. As below the table was the induction for the pot. So it very tiny, very cramp and uncomfortable. Push the bench further I be too far from the pot and table. Table space also very tiny for 4 pax. Been to many hotpot restaurant but this is the worst.
New customer were guided to seat table next to us. Design was not very clever. The divider for both table is so low and close to each other. I din even dare to go close. It would be good if I know them so I can pass food and speak easily to them. However, it kinda make us very uncomfortable that it so close.
Despite being a rainy day. Aircon doesn't seems to be good enough for a hotpot shop. Not much ventilation and hot air seems to be circulating in shop.
Food ordering using ipad. Captain explain about the soup base. But nothing about the food to recommend.
Food came slow despite no crowd. 1st round food order didn't come til we realise 2nd round of food came and we inform the waitress.
No background music in restaurant so it was pretty quiet. But I can hear the kitchen playing music by Andy Hui, 为什么你背着我爱别人.
Most disappointing part. The mala soup is not the type that can be drink or edible. Maybe I was too used to be able to drink mala soup in hotpot restaurant. Soup is very oily and has a lot of ingredients like dry chilli, peppercorn etc that I'm not able to scoop any soup beside oil. Ask the waitress was told not to drink as it very oily. I believe it the authentic mala hotpot not meant to be drink. Just f very sad from personal point.
The meat portion is OK. But hard and chewy, again not the best I had. Got the half portion signature ribs. But a lot of tendon. Again not very edible.
Currently there 12% off all item Overall experience. Not recommended. Will never patronise...
Read moreFood: On the menu, it has wide selection of meats from Australian Australian Prime Beefto Australian Prime Beef. There also unusual innards such as pig fatty intestines, supreme pork aorta, supreme beef omasum, etc. (Eating animal organ meat is always not my preference). There are 4 type of soup base for you to choose for the hotpot, namely Mushroon & Butter (that loaded with lots of mushroom), Tomato & Butter (which is sweet and tangy), Butter Mala Spicy (with lots of dried chili and you can choose the level of spiciness that you preferred) as well as Pork bone soup (with salty umami flavor). Besides, they serve non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages, such TsingTao Beer, LaoShan Beer, Tiger Beer and many mores. My Favorite dishes are Mala soup base (Numb, numb and spicy), Fresh Mutton Rolls & Crystal Beef. Service: The staff is quite friendly, helpful and attentive. Nothing to complaint about. Atmosphere: The restaurant’s interior that makes you feel as you are into ancient China when you step into it. The dining areas are sectioned off with traditional wooden screens and wooden bench with lanterns hanging from the walls - looks very traditional!!! Verdict: Overall, it was a good experience with this restaurant. Ingredients were fresh, with delicious and rich soup base. Love the hotpot! I would recommend to those who are looking for an authentic Sichuan, China hotpot! Note that the price is on the high side but food and atmosphere...
Read moreFood was decent but the only issue I had was with the auntie staff (wearing glasses).
Started the dinner weird when i asked for cold water and my friend asked for warm. the staff was like unhappy and after a while she was like “ok just a jug of warm water”. ??? What’s wrong with a glass of cold and warm. I don’t care if she charges me for water but she’s being weird that she can’t accept a glass each of cold and warm?
Throughout the dinner, on and off she will come by and mumble weird stuff. I understand she’s trying to provide service but the things she said is just weird?
The last straw was she keep asking us to turn off the stove when we are still eating. There’s still food inside the soup and if I off the stove, wouldn’t my soup become just harden oil??
Indirectly blaming us the bottom of the pot will make it difficult for the staff to wash and insist to add in more soup (when the soup was already 3/4 full) and she used the ladle to scrape the bottom of the pot (WHEN WE ARE STILL EATING). In the end she insisted on adding soup so we let her be but she added like a small spoonful? For what???
Conclusion, dinner experience is ruined by...
