Pivovar Hostinec — Restaurant in Košice

If you're into beer this is a must go place in Kosice. It's the oldest brewery in the country, and (I think) the oldest restaurant as well.

However, you go there for beers in the first place. You can get the local brews and they know what they're doing. So if you're up for anything other than a pilsner, well, Hostinec is your place.

We decided to eat there as well, and were very happy with what we got. The menu is a combination of Slovak and European cuisine, with a very good choice of starters that go well with beer.

The service was super friendly but still very professional. I really appreciate when I don't need to look for staff to get another beer because they already had paid attention and offered a refill a couple of minutes back.

Hello, the location is placed in the heart of the city with nice views to the historic buildings. I had a table outside and could enjoy the scene of the Main Street. The waiters have to walk a long distance to the inside of the building and there are too few employees to master this long distance. I had to wait very long and really needed to search for the service. I ordered the Australian Rumpsteak almost cold and far more than well done. The quality of the meat was lower than I expected. I missed the tenderness and juice. It was OK all in all. The fried curd cheese desert with beetroot was a combination that I could not understand. anyway I can‘t judge in case it is a traditional specialty. This is the first time after like six years I had an opportunity to return to this place, and I swiftly remembered why I disliked the place. The service is just terrible. The person serving me was clearly mocking me with weird Hungarian beer names and kept ignoring me and other people around me, for over half an hour as 3 out of 4 employees including cook, choose to talk to some random person instead of doing their work for extended time. When I asked to pay he decided not to come and I had to ask different gal to actually pay. And funny thing is that the beer that I was made fun of pronouncing was called differently on bill.
