It's both a cafe and a restaurant and there would be both kind of clients there. We went there for a lunch.
They aspire to serve fancy food. If that's your thing Slavia is one of go-to places in Kosice. We chose some of their specialities to mixed impressions. Pork cheeks were very good, while beef sirloin did not live up to the expectations.
They also have a changing daily menu for every weekday.
Prices are in high end of the spectrum as compared to other place in the city center.
The place is located in one of the oldest buildings and it's worth taking a look at the interior. However, in restaurants I care more about the food :)
They don't seem to have tables assigned to the waiting staff so occasionally they may drop a ball. We were waiting long for our menus as a waitress thought we had already ordered. At one other table people decided to leave as they were short of patience to get served.

Read moreWhat an exceptional experience! The server has that gift of making you feel like his only customers. He had a great sense of humor and was very attentive. The restaurant is cozy yet has very classy decor. Menu was varied. I was somewhat challenged by menu as am a vegetarian and don’t enjoy beets. While I enjoyed my entree the least, the other five were very happy with their choices. Two had the mushroom soup before entree. Theirs is a sour soup (sauerkraut juice and not cream based). Having had same elsewhere, they both declared it was the best. One had the filet which she really enjoyed, but could not eat it all due to size being larger than most filet mignons. Eight year old declared the spaetzle as the best thing she has ever eaten. And that comes from the most pickiest of eaters. And I cannot remember Four in group had desserts with no complaints. We all agreed that it was the best meal experience in the past four days...
Read moreWe visited this place as it was advised by many. We only ordered some hot chocolate, which was good and wanted to have some cocktails after. The waiter asked which cocktail we wanted and then if we were from Hungary. We said “yes” and he laughed and told us that “he just wanted to make sure”. Afterwards we waited 30 minutes and received nothing, the waiter didn’t even talk to the bartender as we could see. Then we wanted to pay and told this to a waitress, but also there nobody cared…and they ignored us. Only when we stood up we were able to pay, but even there one of the waiters wanted to ignore us at first… It would have been a great experience and we wanted to maybe come back in a couple of days to try some of the dishes too, but not with this poor service. And if this was all because we are Hungarian, then that is just...
