We were a group of 6 friends and found this well rated takeaway asian streed food shop. We ordered 1 chicken fried rice, 2 hot chicken pad thai, 1 normal chicken pad thai, 1 normal shrimp pad thai, 1 medium pad thai without peanut for someone allergic and 2 mango lassi. Means 3 normal, 2 hot and 1 medium dish.
Glad i asked to separate the one without peanut because they completely forgot to not add the peanut at the end so they had to remake one.
Moved to the parc to eat and we noticed they forgot both mango lassi… through we didn’t paid as they weren’t on the receipt. But still, it’s another misstake.
Another bad point is, it’s supposedly ok to pay by card but they didn’t wanted to take card, asked for cash at all cost while there’s no clear indication about it, through the shop is open for many years. Sounded terribly fishy…
About the meal itself, my fried rice was fine, but some items were wrong, we ended up with 2 non spicy dishes instead of 3, and the medium without peanut was even more spicy than others « hot » ones to the point it wasn’t really edible for us. Double misstake on this specific order. Terrible experience, least to say. On top of the one that got a hot pad thai instead of a normal one. Maybe the forgotten lassi could have helped with the milk to smooth the taste… too bad.
As there is only take away, i can’t speak about the atmosphere as there’s nothing to say about it.
Overall, good food and good/great taste if you get your order right, if not… big oof.
Not sure if we were just unlucky but our experience was kinda poor, even terrible for one of us. Sadly we won’t be coming back if we were to travel again to Ljubljana as we do...
Read moreAwesome Asian place at the heart of Ljubljana. As a Southeast Asian we were a bit skeptical in the beginning but we were proven totally wrong!
We ordered 4 dishes during our time in the city: Pad Thai is our favorite, the texture and sauce is incredibly good. Fried Rice, we were reading a review that suggested that he cooked it the way we made fried rice in our country. Not our favorite but still a good fried rice. Green Curry also tastes great, the spicy level is on point! Desi Coconut. We were told that this is the flavor he created. We actually like this quite a lot, it tasted pretty similar to Pad Thai but sweeter.
Also better to call the place as soon as the place is open if possible because some ingredients might run out quick. If you call and he reject your call just wait a few minutes he sometimes will call you back or just call him back again a few minutes after. He is that busy with cooking and receiving orders from phone. It is also halal if you’re looking for such food options. If you’re a Southeast Asian looking for familiar taste, definitely don’t miss out on this...
Read moreWe ordered pad thais and prawn Tom Yum from Babu’s in Ljubljana, and both were fantastic! The Pad Thai was the star, very close to the authentic version, just missing bean sprouts and chives! The Tom Yum broth was thick, and we asked for it to be super spicy, and they nailed it! It’s hard to find a place that can make spicy food truly up to an Asian’s liking. I got 7–8 tiny prawns. Taste wise, it wasn’t so authentic, but a squeeze of lemon from the pad thai pack (or just ask for one) makes it all good. It’s close enough to satisfy your asian cravings. I just wish they’d add some veggies in it, but considering the cheap price, it’s acceptable.
Prices are very affordable and portions are generous too. We waited around 15-20 minutes for our order, and the cook was warm and friendly, which made the experience even better. Just note, this isn’t a restaurant, it’s takeaway only. Bonus...
