This is the place for your Italian fix! The pasta is in a different league. They have a secret shop a few metres away where the pasta is freshly made daily.
All their staff is really friendly. The owner (Maxx) is a funny guy. Go and check out his gallery of Raw Pasta through time in the shop. You will also find some of his bottled sauces and dried pasta to bring home.
The food - OMG the sauces are amazingly delicious. There is no watery sauce in your pasta. They are all very smooth and just the right thickness that coat the pasta beautifully.
It is the Goldilocks of sauces!
The surprising dish is the tuna and ginger which you might not associate with a pasta sauce. It was a refreshing change to the more traditional carbonara.
But I’m not dissing the carbonara! It was so silky. It will take a while to work out his magic. (Maybe never. Will need to work in his kitchen to learn the secret.)
You can feel and taste their passion in producing what you might think are simple dishes. I can assure you that their taste profiles are nothing simple.
All the pasta are cooked al dente, as you would expect.
The lasagna has the right thickness to the sauce. Again, no watery tomato liquid or thick white sauces you might see in other places.
Nonna’s tiramisu is not to be missed. I don’t taste too much liqueur, which is not a bad thing. I already have to walk off all the carbs!
This is just pasta heaven on earth! I dare say it is probably some of the best in the world. It was so good that we had to go back twice in 2 days. If only I had more time to eat through the menu!
We didn’t wait because we were there when the restaurant opened. However if you want to eat at the “usual” meal times, you should reserve your...
Read moreA very nice place with a lot of Italian feel to it😊
Service is great, especially the Italian waitress since she is really taking care of customers.
When it comes to food, it’s really a place where you have meals like they are cooked at home by some old Italian nona🤌🇮🇹
It’s not some fancy place where you should expect to get kicked out of your shoes, but if you want to eat proper Italian food cooked the old fashioned way, this is the place for you. This is proven by a lot of Italians that had lunch there while we were there.
We had carbonara, ragu, paccheri and lasagna, and only remark we had was for paccheri since it tasted a bit to “herbal” for some reason but since it’s classified as vegan dish, it’s not that surprising. Everything else was great, especially the ragu since you can taste it was cooked for hours and the meat is melting in your mouth.
All in all, if you are not looking for fancy stuff that you will show off with on Instagram but instead want an authentic Italian meal in an Italian setting, you can’t go wrong with this place.
Definitely a recommendation...
Read moreA bit of a let down. I was looking forward a nice fresh pasta dish, but I'm not sure if I got unlucky or if there was something not right with what I ordered. The pasta itself was cooked perfectly, but the sauce tasted like a preprepared one, with that sweetish and bland aftertaste that those packet sauces have. The others liked theirs, although weren't over enthusiastic with it. Yet, we could see ingredients being prepared in the kitchen, hence I'm not sure if it was a coincidence or not that I forced myself to endure the taste because I was hungry. The good point is the service, which was friendly, speedy and professional. Perhaps I was just unlucky with what I chose, but nevertheless that was my experience of it. Will give it another go some other time just to be sure, because the quality of the pasta itself is good and there's...
