Update 2021: After 1 year, was very excited to return to this place, I was hit by a slap of disappointment and shame! I understand that there are pandemic measures, but the service doesn’t need to turn to be that disgraceful and terrible as it is now. Food wise, horrible!!! Had the big mezza platter, which seems this year got changed by removing foul, when we requested for a plate of foul, they brought a cold one swimming in lime and vinegar!!! (With another shock that it was served without bread and we had to buy it extra, seems it’s considered now as a plate of soup for the restaurant) Plus ordered the chicken shish kebab, it was just very cold salad and plain pieces of chicken. When I asked to have a word with a manager or chef or anyone responsible, it was noted that no one is present and apparently they didn’t care about a feedback.
Now my message to the owner, if you can’t manage such place and resemble our culture and food in the best form, whether close it or turn it into a touristic kebab shop rather than this.
2020:As an Egyptian who already used to have this as our local street food, I can guarantee that this is the best foul, falafel and hummus I ever had in Europe that it brought me nostalgia back home, touch down!
It’s amazing! I highly recommend it for anyone in Ljubljana or anyone passing by the city.
I request from the owner even to think (hopefully do) about expanding and franchising all over Europe, it would be magnificent.
My appreciation and greetings to the owner and executive chefs.
Well done guys, keep spreading our tasty...
Read moreYes I wrote my review one year ago and yes I loved it and dreamed about getting back to Ljubljana just to eat here because after living in Arab world this was finally a perfect authentic foul and falafel place in Europe. I’m back here and I’m shocked! How could this restaurant turn into a total letdown? Foul is absolutely disgusting, cold, acidic, feels like swimming in vinegar and you even don’t get bread with it. I don’t mind buying bread for extra few cents but to stand few times in huge row just to get piece of bread is horrible mistake. Guys do you have even an idea how it should be eaten? Foul + bread is inseparable duo, North Africans tear a peace of bread calling it a “cat ear” and they dip it into foul, hummus or babaganoush. But how can I expect them to know this if waiters are clueless kids. One year ago it was a perfect place, amazing food, atmosphere, staff, we were even thanking the chef. Now it’s an average kebab-falafel kiosk, it’s just missing pizza slices and then it would be the absolute killer of culture. Sandwich was cold with just few pieces of meat. At least the falafel balls are still lovely so that one star is for them. I’m thinking hard if I’ll give this place one more chance while visiting my lovely Ljubljana...
Read moreVery casual and welcoming falafel restaurant. We were served very quickly despite it being a lunch rush. You could get anything on the menu and we're sure it would be delicious. We got the Abi falafel wrap (maxi) to try the potatoes and aubergine- they were delicious!
Here's the breakdown: potatoes were powerfully salty which was appreciated, aubergine was juicy and well roasted, no greens which is positive for some peeps but some iceberg would have been better for us, fresh and plenty of tomatoes inside.
Falafel balls didn't stand out within the wrap. Think they'd be better alongside a mezze as the wrap was packed full.
Downside of the wrap was the wrap itself - it shouldn't just be a vessel for the other ingredients it should be one itself ! Think a slight toasting would have improved it. Managed to keep the runny juices mostly in until the last bite which was a positive.
Overall great value and maxi really means big so come with an empty stomach or just get a smaller one. Sorry for the post bite pictures, I couldn't wait. Would recommend to come multiple times during your...
