We emailed ahead to state our flight was delayed (about 6 hours before we were due to arrive) but received no response. ||We then arrived about 12:30pm to discover nobody at the reception as there is not 24hr reception. There was a number which we called, to be directed to our room, which was unlocked, by somebody over the phone. ||When we got to the room, it was not the room we had booked, which was a 'Deluxe Double Room' with queensize bed and private bathroom. ||What greeted us was a double mattress on two wooden pallets on the floor (Shabby chic? More like building site) and a light fitting hanging out of the ceiling.||The sink in the SHARED bathroom then exploded of its own accord and hot water spewed from this making an awful noise. I rang the 'reception' number again but was then hung up on by the person i had spoken to! We then could not sleep due to the horrendous noise the sink was making until randomly somebody came and fixed this around 4 30am. ||We then got around an hours broken sleep before the sun came up about 5 30am, the room also had no curtains so the sun blared through first thing. It was also nice to greet our neighbour opposite hanging out their washing in the morning whilst not dressed! ||I complained to the booking agent upon our return but the hostel denied that they had given us the wrong room and requested photographic evidence!? Not the first thing on my mind in a foreign country at 1am! ||Would totally avoid, there are some beautiful, lovely, friendly places to stay in Ljubljana, this isn't...
Read moreThis is the first time in my life that I left a property and refused to stay. I arrived and discovered the dorm I had booked was in an overheated windowless basement without ventilation. I am severely allergic to mold and within less than a minute my throat was swelling up. I told the receptionist that I could not stay in the room as there wasn't any fresh air or windows. He did not have any concern about my health and told me i would not get a refund. I told him this was not fair as I had shown up but I could not be expected to stay in a room where i was unable to breathe. He then showed me a ground floor private room and told me this would be an additional 35 euro a night. I told him this was unacceptable as I could walk down the street and find an alternative with a window for a much cheaper price and that I wanted a refund. He smirked at me and said ' Too bad. You saw the pictures online and you accepted. That's your problem. You are not getting a refund.' Currently there are four pictures of the property on Hotels.com. The dorm room is not featured in any of them, but all the pictures shown have windows in them and none of them appear to be in a basement. Nowhere in the small print is it mentioned that the dorm is located in a basement or that it does not have windows. Had I seen such information I certainly would not have booked the dorm. I contacted Hotels.com via two email addresses several weeks ago and no one has had the courtesy to respond. Extremely...
Read moreI’m giving it 3⭐️ for 2 main reasons: there were people walking around NAKED and in their underwear in the dorm where I was staying. Unfortunately nobody should have to see this kind of thing, specially in a SHARED environment! The shower thing was not fixable, so I had to hold it EVERY TIME I was showering and this was very annoying. Also, there was a very weird smell on the entrance hall. And the “common” room was not at all welcoming, there was a guy that asked for a ping pong ball and they said they don’t have it! What is the point of providing a ping pong table, but no ping pong ball?! Also, the locker I got didn’t fully close, so that was annoying too. Apart from that, the service was okay, they offered towel and blankets, so this was nice. And the location was very good too, walkable to both center and...
