Mike's Kitchen Humewood — Restaurant in Eastern Cape

4/5 - Great weekend breakfast in a restaurant with friendly staff and a great view.

So we decided to have a breakfast at Mike's Kitchen after seeing an ad in my feed. It was the first time going to the restaurant which is situated between the McDonald's and base of the Holiday Inn. Arriving just after 10h00 we were pleasantly surprised to find a restaurant with only 3 other families enjoying breakfast.

Waitress (Jessica) was friendly and service was fast. We enjoyed the Rustic Potch and the daughter enjoyed the kiddies Chicken Strips and Chips. Both were most enjoyable and we topped it off with a cappuccino and an Oreo Milkshake (bit pricey but if you spoiling yourself is worth it - BTW they use REAL Oreos and not those fake ones cheaper places use).

I've put photos of the menu below and as you can see the prices are reasonable enough for a special outing.

Will we return,? Most definitely! The view was great, the food was great and so was the service.

I didn't know that there was a Mike's kitchen in Summerstrand and stumbled on to this place by accident. No one greeted us at the door and we weren't sure if the place was open for business. After about two minutes someone came to usher us to a seat and we had quite the choice as it was very quiet. We asked the waitress and she said on good weather days they are a bit quiet for lunch as everyone is at the beach but she assured us that there was usually a healthy crowd for breakfast and that it would pick up towards supper time. My wife and I enjoyed the quietness. It did indeed start to get busy toward the end of our meal and I only realized the size of the restaurant as we were leaving. We received our meals approximately 25 minutes after placing our order which i believe is on par for what we ordered.. Both our meals were good and my steak was cooked exactly how I asked for it. It’s quite disappointing especially after a 12 hour drive that my Family and myself sit at this restaurant only to receive my daughters milk shakes on time though my drink wasn’t made with taste meaning I could only taste ice with syrup. I then return it to be fixed, I still had to ask” where’s my drink “as I’m already. Waiting for roughing 30 minutes for a fixed drink.

My husband had told the waiter to kindly return for our menus within 5 minutes as our daughters where still deciding on their meals for him to call any waiter saying “ is no one taking our order “ . Our order was taken and was informed that it’ll be ready in 30 minutes, my kids no longer wanted to eat here as we all were very hungry . Our plates had taken more then hour to come and my plate was the worst dish I picked probably have eaten at Mikes Kitchen.
