Absolutely dismal experience at Burger King Fourways Mall. My partner and I ordered two Nutella King Fusion desserts and were attended to by a completely incompetent trainee named Solly. He didn't even know what we ordered until my partner had to repeatedly point it out to him on the menu signboard literally behind the counter. Possibly due to the norm of turning away customers that ask for desserts due to the 'out of order' ice cream machine. After bumbling through the order, he entered the wrong quantity, which we caught just before paying. The so-called manager, Nomvula, then came to void the error without so much as an apology—talk about unprofessional.
What followed was even worse. We watched in horror as Solly struggled to handle the dessert cups, dropping some on the floor and then putting them back into storage instead of throwing them away! Seriously? If you don't believe me, check the camera footage and see for yourself how the staff at this location disregard basic hygiene.
Since Solly and another trainee didn’t know how to make the order, Nomvula had to step in. I had to demand she use new cups after what we saw, and then she tried to serve us the Nutella Fusion without the biscuit topping. When we pointed out her mistake, she argued with us until we showed her a picture from the app and the menu signboard. Once again, no apology.
We left with our desserts, only to find out the ice cream was spoiled and sour. Absolutely disgusting. We weren't the only ones—other customers in the food court were also returning their BK desserts because they were off. When we brought ours back, Nomvula refunded our money with a terrible, unapologetic attitude.
Burger King Fourways Mall, you should be ashamed. Serving spoiled dairy products is a health hazard and shows a total lack of care for your customers. I’m attaching pics of the staff learning from a manager who doesn’t even know how to prepare the order correctly, and the disgusting desserts we and others returned.
After my complaint about the spoiled desserts and appalling service, one of the managers called to apologize and confirmed that a written warning had been issued to the staff involved. I thought this would resolve the issue—but I was wrong.
When I returned to the store , both Solly and Nomvula recognized me as "the one who laid the complaint" and had the audacity to laugh in my face without offering any apology. Instead of showing any sign of professionalism or remorse, they chose to mock me.
Burger King, this is unacceptable. I urge HR to take immediate and further disciplinary action against these employees. They clearly have no respect for customers and should not be allowed to work in customer service.
