Nothing wrong with the meal or quality of food or the service. But management as a whole you should be disgusted with yourself.
Went to eat there with friends for breakfast. They waiter did not tell us that in 30min they where going to change over to the lunch buffet and made the mistake of saying that we could eat breakfast for 5 hours if we wanted. Shortly after our starter he asked if we could take our mains because the lunch buffet will start in 5min. We said we sat down for breakfast and were told that we could eat breakfast so we want our breakfast. He went off to talk to the manager to find out if we could have our main from lunch buffet and apparently this was fine. Everything goes well we sit and enjoy ourselves for 6 hours. When the bill came we were charged for the breakfast buffet and the lunch buffet, and an additional 2 windhoek draughts which none of us had. Speaking to our waiter he said the manager would void it and it would not be a problem but we must just pay the correct amount. We insisted that we want to speak to the manager so that our waiter would not get into trouble when we paid a different amount than stated on the bill. He said the general manager is busy and won't come talk to us. We asked for the floor manager who he went to and she just shook her head and refused to come to us. Eventually I would guess some manager came to us and we explained to them the situation and they said all is good and that there was no problem. After our waiter came back to us and he did not look happy and after a lot of convincing he said don't worry about it he would pay the difference that was wrong on the bill. We then approached the manager who did not want to speak to us the first time. She continued to say that they have to charge him because it's his fault and this is the only way he will learn. Our bill was supposed to be R855. 00 the amount on the Bill was R1495. 00. So after we paid the right amount my waiter would be responsible for R635. 00 of the wrong amount. I am sorry but that's not right. You can check your cameras and see how much we ate. We didn't have more then 2 half full plates of food. And we didn't get any extra beverages. No money was lost on your side. So how can you hold your waiter responsible for that amount it was a mistake. It's unethical. He works a whole day and makes only tips and a small commission. He would make nothing for that day. I am in one mind to report you to the CCMA. Even if he was at fault you can not expect him to pay...

There were not enough napkins available, I went to the serving stations to get some and I took the last 7 they had-we were 16 at our table. Their fish was wet, you could tell it was cooked while it still had water. The children did not enjoy the food, especially the samp, they didn't touch it at all. Their fried chips were cold and under cooked. We all felt their food was bland and undercooked. The grilled beef was little, I had to wait twice while they prepared it. The rate in which food comes out does not meet the demand. They take too many customers for their capacity. The server took an hour and a half to get our drink order, we ate with no water or drinks. That's how busy and packed the place was, if we could leave, we would have but it is difficult to coordinate 16 people at the last minute. More especially that we traveled from different parts of Gauteng. When the server brought our drinks, the glasses were dirty. I kid you not, there were food stains from the previous user, there was even an unfinished drink. I made him return all the glasses and we drank straight out of the bottles of our beverages. My brother ordered a cocktail, it was the worst I've ever tasted. He opted for warm water with lemon instead of it. We asked the server to sing happy birthday to my sister, we waited for another 45 minutes from the time of the request. We eventually were the last table to leave for the lunch session, we left at 6pm because our bill took way to long to prepare. The server was trying to get a drunk customer who bought alcohol he could not afford to pay up. We had to wait until that whole incident was concluded before they sang the happy birthday and sorted out our bill. When it was time to pay, the manager/supervisor was arguing with two servers about using the card machine. He even walked past me during their argument and the waiter told him I was the client wanted to pay, he apologized for that. I would never recommend you to go to this place. Our family occasionally have our family events at different buffets around Gauteng and this was the pit of them all. Go there at your own risk, it was...
Read moreOn the 14th of February 2024 I contacted Food Chain in Menlyn to confirm a reservation for 2 (my partner & I). I confirmed with the restaurant staff that seating was indeed available and the pricing would be R169 per person to which we happily confirmed our booking.
Upon arrival we were greeted by a friendly waiter who took us for a quick tour of the restaurant and introduced us to some of the dishes we could expect to look forward too. We were very impressed. Everything looked fresh and tasty and our waiter then sat us down. To our surprise while informing us about the drinks he mentioned the price to partake in the buffet is actually R269 per person and not the R169 that we were initially informed about. This caught us a little off guard as we did confirm seating availability and pricing before we showed up so we requested to speak to a senior or manager.
ENTER QUINTON/KWINTON ! This guy Quintion or Kwinton, is THE MOST DISRESPECTFUL, DEMEANING, UNPROFFESSIONAL, RUDE & PATHETIC host or manager my partner and I have ever encountered in all our years of frequenting restaurants. His attitude was utterly derogatory and the tone in which he spoke to my partner and I was disgusting to say the least. He did not show an ounce of courtesy toward us instead his exact words were that "The waiter lied. Waiters lie all the time. They will never admit the truth and we would not believe how much they lie" He then presented us with a solution that we could sit at the buffet at R269 per person and get a cheap drink free. I don't think this man was competent enough to understand it was not about the money but the principle of the fact that we called and confirmed a different price over the phone. My partner is a medical doctor and I am an accountant, whilst we aren't millionaires we're definitely human beings and we expect to be treated that way to say the least and we sure as hell had no problem spending R200 more. For whoever is reading this review I would like to make it blatantly clear that THIS IS NOT ABOUT THE PRICE, OR MONEY, IT IS ABOUT THE DISGUSTING ATITUDE AND PATHETIC RUDENESS OF THE MANAGER OF FOOD...
