I cannot reply to your comment under so I will say it here. First of all, we did wait at the door until we were approached by our waiter who sat us at that table that was NOT set. (which I would've been fine with and understood if he didn't take ages to come and make sure it was then cleaned after sitting us down).
Secondly, I never! And neither did my wife for one second show any arrogance towards anyone there. So you are simply commenting on something you are ill informed about that is going on in your establishment.
Third, trying to insult me by saying "one needs to be used to 5 star service in order to receive it" is highly inappropriate and unprofessional and tells a lot about you rather than me, I have worked in the industry for over a decade and have been on both end, and therefore I know exactly what star service and fine dinning should be.
I am shocked that all the reviews are 5 stars actually. My experience was the complete opposite but I went there especially because they had mostly good reviews. First of, when we arrived, we sat at a table that had to still be cleaned. (the waiter that sat us down did not notice and so it was only wiped when our waiter came to serve us). The waiter was nice but I would not say up to par with the service considering the pricing because when I asked for his recommendation or anything, he seemed to just simply choose the more expensive items on the menu, and I did take his recommendations because I wanted to experience this "5 ⭐" experience that everyone seems to be talking about. But the food flavor was disapointing to say the least, I literally had the same dish cooked the exact same way the day before at half the price from another restaurant. So to make it short, the service was not up to par, neither was the flavor of the food, I have had burgers that tasted better than my steak elsewhere. Either I got a different service from all the reviews or they have all just been in mediocre restaurants before this one and so, this happens to be the best experience for them. But it was not worth it at all. I even left much earlier than I planned because of how annoying it was. The only thing that truly separates this place from others is the price. Even the embience was very casual and I felt like I was at a pub...
Read moreOne week prior to the Chris de Burgh show at the arena, I decided to research restaurants at the Time Square complex. Since Forti Grill & Bar listed several outstanding reviews regarding food and atmosphere I called for a smoking reservation, which was explained to me by Mr. Forti himself that their smoking area is outside and I agreed to it. During my conversation with him I mentioned calling again the morning of our reservation to see what the weather would be like in case we might have to move our seating inside. Upon arrival Mr. Forti welcomed us at the entrance and immediately pointed us to the inside of the restaurant. When questioning our seating and explaining that I specifically asked for outside Mr. Forti, in front of his associate and my wife made me to be a lier as he, surprisingly out of all his daily bookings remembers our conversation specifically me asking for inside seating. Nevertheless my wife and I proceeded to our inside seating and yes the atmosphere is pleasant - not really our style of having huge square tables with hardly any room between adjacent patrons. Furthermore we were explained the choice of meals and both my wife and I opted for the Angus Sirloin which was pretty succulent with a typical Portuguese style egg on top, roast potatoes and some vegetables - all this for R300 - way too much for what you offered their Mr. Forty. After our meal, main only I might add, a lovely Protea Cabernet Sauvignon and some still water our total bill, including gratuity came to R900. I'm sad to say never again - not because of the money but rather the poor...
Read moreAfter going to the Lynnwood location a week after my review of this location improved. Lovely space . All staff were lovely . Apart from the waiter who was a bit impatient and came across judgemental . Only issue was there seemed to be no communication amongst different staff and so we were interrupted at least every 10-25 minutes by someone different asking if we were okay which became a bit of pain after some time - we spent over 4 hours there . But friendly nonetheless and now much appreciated following their sister locations completed opposite approach to patrons. Food was good . Kingklip and prawn special was slightly overdone as prawns were rubbery . Pork dish special was very good and something different. Steak my friend ordered was great . They make a smashing whiskey sour and cocktails in general. And should you be in the mood for shots they will arrange those for you too . Definitely a bit underwhelmed on the hype built around the food but overall a great visit and evening out . We were offered a freebie limoncello because we all had gift bags even though we were clear we were not celebrating any specific...
