I recently dined at Spur, and I have to say, our waitress, Lebogang Sibanyoni, made the experience truly memorable. From the moment we were seated, her warm smile and genuine enthusiasm set a welcoming tone. She greeted us promptly, introduced herself, and made sure we had everything we needed to get started, from menus to water.
Lebogang’s knowledge of the menu was impressive—she described specials with such detail and passion that it was clear she cared about the food and the guests enjoying it. When I asked for recommendations, she didn’t just rattle off the most expensive items; she asked thoughtful questions about my preferences and suggested dishes she genuinely thought I’d love.
Her energy was infectious—she seemed to genuinely enjoy her job, and that positivity spread to everyone around her. Even during a busy moment when the restaurant was packed, she remained calm, composed, and kind, making sure every table felt taken care of. It’s rare to see someone balance efficiency and warmth so effortlessly.
Overall, Lebogang’s service elevated our dining experience from good to exceptional. She’s the kind of waitress who makes you want to return to a restaurant, not just for the food but for the care and attention she brings to the table. If you’re dining at Spur, you’re lucky if you get Lebogang as your server,...
Read moreI am not sure how this Spur is still running. Yesterday was the second time I went there since I arrived in Johannesburg.
The first time we went the onion rings were burnt to a point that we escalated this to a Manager who then in turn gave me and my kids a box full of onion rings not sure what we were supposed to do with that.
Yesterday was the same. We thought let's give it a second try... and ordered food that we usually don't order , trying to see if it will be different. Good God, it was worse than before. Onion rings burnt once again, the chicken schnitzel felt like we were chewing gum my steak was tasteless and I know one of the customers commented saying ' I see you guys don't like the food' and the response was it a mess. Customer was like we have gotten used to it as we live around the area.""
I called the manager again, who apologized and sent the waiter to offer me a free desert. I told the waiter it was okay, but he insisted. I ordered peppermint tart. I don't know what I was eating.
Now it's safe to say my family and I will never go there, not even for a glass of water.
We got the same waiter as the first time we went there, and he...
Read moreYour staff couldn't cope with a full restaurant. The section I sat in, close to the door, was neglected and McDonald's will put your chicken burger to shame. I couldn't see the lettuce underneath the slice of tomato and if it wasn't for the mocktail I probably would have had trouble swallowing your very dry and sad burger. I could have walked out of your restaurant without paying and no one would have noticed because your waiters never came to check up on me. There was no one in the front for a period of time while Lamees was running around trying to keep the place functioning. I waited at least 10 min for someone to give me my bill and eventually went to find the waiter in another section closer to the kitchen. An unpleasant experience and meal before the show I came to see. I have dined in many restaurants and yours is one that I will not...
