Update: after my last review I was contacted in a very timely fashion by John Dory to try and rectify the situation. I was offered a voucher to return that I could only redeem today. The waitress today, Kayla, was reasonably friendly, talkative without being overbearing and efficient. I didn't like that she turned the fan off when we asked her to leave it on. She said she couldn't hear us but we weren't speaking to her at the time. We tried to make space for plates etc and were giving her our menus back and she sighed and said we just have to make space here people. But she gave all her tables, including ours, consistent attention and ither than that, our children enjoyed her as a waitress.
The food was good, much better than last time and my children enjoyed their birthday meal very much.
The only reason I haven't given them 5 stars, and only upgraded them to a 3.5 is because after we'd paid and tipped and were trying to get out of the booth, I was approached to please change my review on Google and asked if they needed to bring me a phone so that I could do it. At some point, when you have engaged with your customer then trust that you have done your part to rectify the situation and that they have enough integrity to do their part. I knew that I was being asked to re-experience the restaurant in the hopes that my review would change and I knew that I'd update it after visiting there again. I had every intention of doing it. But being asked, as I was trying to get out of a booth, which is not very a very comfortable position, if they could bring me a phone so that I could change my review right then and there, was a tad much for me and I found it rather put a damper on the mood. This last bit, in addition to the fact that we got the feeling that we'd definitely been spoken about in a not too positive way (the waitress who brought us nibbles- popcorn- said "oh so you came back"), we were told that we "received a voucher because we complained" and the fact that a glass of Tiramisu was full on top and then as you stuck the spoon down, there was a big old empty gap at the bottom even though the glass looked full from the outside. I appreciate that they offered the voucher but I didn't ask for it in any way shape or form and so the comments weren't appreciated. So, we tried and they improved on food and the waitress but after discussion about the experience as a whole, we have decided that we won't be visiting John Dory again. It's just too much money to spend on being given under currents of attitude - the underlying feeling that you're left with is a feeling we just don't have anywhere else that we go to.
Original review: I find that John Dory's is always either a bit or miss. I was there last month and the seafood platter was awesome, then a few days ago, a bunch of it was burnt. The service was a bit lacklustre and so I found myself leaving and feeling very disappointed and unsatisfied. It'll probably be a while before I give it...

At first we were welcomed with a great heart and professionalism, however after taking us inside and making us walk around the whole restaurant, the waitress told us that the only available table would only be free in 20 min, that was stupid of making us around the restaurant looking for tables. Then as soon as she said that, my father saw there was an empty table and we requested to be seated there. When we were seated, we noticed that the table was filthy and we asked our waitress to clean it... After 5 min she returned with a serviette to clean the table, doesn't the restaurant provide cleaning cloths. However, she then forgot to bring us the menus and we asked for them and her reply was as follows: "I'll be back, I have to go look if there is any menus", seriously no menus?? After we got our menus, another waitress started serving us, and she was much more professional than the other one. After ordering our drinks, I used the toilets to wash my hands... The toilets had a funny smell, it smelled like an animal had died there even although they were cleaned. After placing our orders we waited a decent amount of time considering the restaurant was full. The food was excellent, I had the Surf and Turf and it was delicious.
We had a good evening there, even although the restaurant is requiring to train some of their employees and do more cleaning. But I recommend coming when the restaurant is not busy...
Read more21/10/22 Sad what service has become at John Dorys. After all everything is blamed on Covid. Waited 1 hour before the food arrived, waiters came twice to borrow sauce from the table, seems like this place needs a proper management shake up to up the levels of service. Food was strangely quite good but didn't feel like eating due to the delays. Spoon in the pic is the biggest we could get for dishing up. Who knows, maybe staff were waiting for dishes to be washed, hence the delays. Huge disadvantage to the brand.
26/10/22 Not many owners will take the time to do what Divershen did. Divershen the owner called me and asked to come out and sew me regarding the review. I declined as I didn't want to inconvenience him so I went in to meet with him. We sat down and he explained the whole situation, did not sxpect to get so busy on that Friday, bought new spoons for the platters, focused more on customer service etc. I was given sushi to take back home to the family and was really impressed with what I was given. I'm not much of a sushi fan but now I'm hooked and will definitely be back for the gourmet sushi that I have not seen before. Wednesdays are half price sushi so quite affordable. Thanks Divershen for your dedication to...
