I visited this restaurant on 25 September 2023 before I had to board for an international flight. After my visit, and boarding the plane I experienced gastrointestinal symptoms which included severe stomach cramps which made my flights and vacation very unpleasant. This was also experienced by a family member who had the same meal as myself. Another family member had a different meal and experienced no symptoms.
We ordered breakfast. Our eggs were very runny although we requested it to be well done. We did not eat this and the waiter was told why we didnât finish our food. We arenât people who complain about food, but the food also did not taste very good.
Upon my return I immediately visited the restaurant and requested to speak to the manager who offered little to no support in this issue that I raised even after I told him about my issues I experienced after leaving the restaurant. I reached out to the restaurant three times in one week after visiting for feedback on this query with no response. What is the turnaround time for customer queries and complaints?
I called the restaurant during the week to follow up and the manager told me the owner is aware of my issue and will get back to me⌠I am still waiting.
When I escalated my query to the airport, I received little support and no transparency on the issues I raised. I will not mention the biggest red flag in the conversation I had with the manager but it essentially made me question the procedures set in place to ensure quality and hygiene. The manager could not answer any of my questions and this makes me wonder how much he is aware of. I asked him if he was aware of any bad reviews for the restaurant and he said no, thus⌠how are they keeping up with what customers are saying to ensure they improve on experiences?
The response I received via the airport lacked empathy and transparency and their respect for myself as a customer that attended this restaurant. To date they have still not replied to my query despite being escalated by the airport facility. The response generated was addressed to the facility and not myself. Where is the customer care in this? Their justification was that they have good relationships with other consumers who visit the restaurant often when their relationships with those consumers have absolutely nothing to do with my own experience at the restaurant.

The tables and chairs are poorly designedâmy husband was too tall to fit under the table. We ordered two mochas, which arrived after our food because they couldnât find the cups. The simple food we ordered, including the toast, was bland and flavorless. Even the chips lacked flavor.
Itâs a shame that international travelers encounter this place upon arriving in JHB. The mocha tasted like chemicals, and nothing on the table tasted good for a restaurant claiming to serve Oriental fusion cuisine. The waitress was inexperienced but nice and did her best despite an awful kitchen. I decided to pay the bill, tip her and leave without finishing the meal.
As I was preparing to tip the waitress and pay the bill, a male waiter approached, rudely demanding a tip without checking on us or inquiring about our experience. I told him I was tipping the waitress, not him.
I wouldnât recommend this place to anyone. We ended up going to Mugg N Bean for a proper meal. This restaurant consistently receives bad reviews and does nothing to change. They trap travelers and scam them with their aggressive tactics and poor service.

   Read moreWe left home very early for my husband and sons flight. My twin daughters were hungry so we decided to have breakfast at the airport before our trip home. The twins decided to eat at Oriental Fusion as it would be something new and different from the usual places. Worst decision ever!!!! Food took forever and when it did arrive we had to wait for one of my daughters order for nearly 10 minutes. I ordered a breakfast... 2 eggs, 2 macon, toast, baked beans and chips. Eggs were over done, the toast was cold, hard and no butter, beans were dry and the macon was bacon!!!! Half the food was cold and unsalted My oldest daughter ordered an omelet which she couldnt eat as she said it gave her heartburn. My youngest daughter ordered a chicken curry toasted sandwich. There was more potatoes than chicken in it and it was all unsalted. We asked for the salt which never came. I asked for the bill and if they coukd pack the omelet and sandwich to only be told that they dont have takeaway containers When i went to pay i complained......after all that the waiter still asked for a tip and had the audacity to say that he didnt make the food he is just the waiter!!!!!
