This is a great restaurant, but there is one thing that makes me slightly frustrated When wanting to order the fish/calamari combo/platter, there is no chance or ability to swop the rice only for chips, or even half chips/half rice There is a staunch no substitute rule ( which I completely understand for the pizza') But for the platters there is only a rice option, but the other items u can choose rice, chips , etc
Now let me explain the consequence of this Your waiter who was fantastic had to apologize that he can't swop the rice for chips, then only leaving me to select the fish and chips meal So instead of spending the R200+ on the platter, I spend less on a lessor meal
Restaurant makes less money, waiter gets less tip , waiters don't have freedom to make slight changes leaving customer maybe slightly frustrated You're missing out on chances to increase profitability
Now to the awesome part Amazing pizza ( the sirloin pizza is to die for honestly ) Was only slightly disappointed but still happy with the chicken Parma ( I say slightly because there seemed to be a lack of chicken , abundance of parmagiana, and honestly the "tomato sauce swirled ontop" seemed to be slightly lost on me with the taste , however this could be totally personal preference , the pizza was still good )
Prawns were also fantastic and chicken burger was also good ( went there for lunch and dinner )
Milkshake was great and as said before the waiters and view were fantastic.
I hope in the future you reconsider being able to make slight changes/ give options of sides for the platters the same as u do for the normal meals ( like I mentioned , no pizza substitute rule is absolutely 100% ok, I believe that is fine and perfect , but not being able to pick sides for platter where that is available for other meals is slightly strange )
Will always come back but slightly hesitant to spend my money on something that's not...
Read moreNot great not terrible, but I experienced more discomforts than I'd like. Some of my company may be less sensitive than I, so take my review with a pinch. The food was nice enough though, but food and drinks were both pricy to my liking. Service was alright, but had to repeat once or twice and food took a very long time to arrive, both in and outside of loadshedding. We had a fly or two which were really inconvenient. The seating arrangements felt cramped both times, with pedestrian traffic being onerous. Depending on the patrons for the evening, this can add or subtract to your experience. There is a section of the restaurant inside which is really low that I often nearly bump my head against. Menus are filthy - enough so that the food and wine menus have a visible discolouration and are noticeably sticky to the touch. There is something peculiar going on with the lights, as they seem to go brighter and dimmer on more frequent occasions, and becomes quite distracting. I wouldn't go here on a date, and I'd say I'd rather go here for a casual meal, but at the prices, it wouldn't qualify as a casual meal. On the plus side, the bathrooms were clean enough, just a...
Read moreEDIT: Thank you owners for asking about the mid range review. Don't take it personally as Moby's is just not my kind of place. Family and friends asked us to meet them out for lunch. Busy longweekend Saturday. They had already secured a table by the time we arrived so no wait for us. We struggled to find parking.
Would not have been my 1st choice of restaurant as does not have many vegetarian options.
The waiters were a bit overwhelmed with the busyness of the day and were not very attentive. Took quite a while to take our orders after initial drinks orders and then quite a while longer fir food to arrive. Perhaps the fact that it was a large group was also overwhelming and it was just easier to focus on other customers. I found the restaurant impersonal, not particularly vibey...
