Firstly, the staff are great! On the ball and very professional everytime I’ve visited. The restaurant itself is clean and the food comes out fast (Maybe abit too fast for my liking).
Now my food selection is very reserved when I visit a restaurant by myself. Anyone can roast a steak or deep fry a rack of ribs so if you want to taste someone’s cooking always go for the pasta options! Which I did since I was just trying to catch a quick meal on my way to somewhere else (I ended up staying because I was typing this out as I tried to down my meals)
I ordered a Pesto Pasta option and boy oh boy did they give me pesto!
My meal was basically just pasta covered in this pesto mix. RIP to the chicken and bacon because the pesto part of it was so overpowering that I added some cheese just to taste something else and after a few bites I sent it back.
When the waiter arrives he chooses to defend the meal adding that if I add abit more olive oil it could probably taste better🤨... like dude! TF am I supposed to get that from? Should I bring my own seasoning too?
I ordered more beer to drown the taste of perhaps the worst pasta meal I’ve ever had to date (That includes meals made at home by my sister who’s cooking is borderline poisonous) I also ordered a boerwors starter to try and get something in my stomach (which wasn’t bad actually)
So a bad day in the kitchen or just subpar food masked by fancy interior decor and a pretentious menu? Don’t know, and really hope it’s the latter because I’d really love to come again, the atmosphere is great for family and even when it’s packed you never really feel like you’re crowded at the middle of a mall. But the PASTA! That was absolutely terrible and anyone who messes up a simple pasta meal doesn’t deserve to enter a kitchen let alone call...
Read moreThis restaurant has always been my go to place in Gateway, whether im taking my siblings out, meeting with my colleagues, lunch with my friends or dinner with my husband. I considered it the best due to my great previous experiences.
However, my husband and I had booked in the area, so we visited CIRCU CIRCUS during dinner for 3 consecutive days, spending around R2000. On day 4 we came in for breakfast at around 11am (26-Sept.-2020), I requested an inside seat because i wanted to work on my laptop.
There lady who was on duty (as a manager, I assume) told me that i cannot dine there for long while working, she directed me to centre court to go sit and work there, because they are very "busy" so it is not allowed. My husband said, we will be here for an hour at most, she declined saying they cannot host us. She said that if I were to work on my laptop, the customer on a neighbouring table has a right to request that we leave the place, and during that time we spotted a gentleman working on his laptop but decided to leave.
I am always looking for fine dining, and for her to direct me to food court was the most disgusting part. Maybe she undermined certain age groups, but she made me regret ever visiting the restaurant, and i will make sure to inform my friends and family who had become loyal Circus Circus...
Read moreI have been going to Circus Circus for the past 5 years on a very regular basis....at least twice a week. The supervisor and some staff know me personally by name. In the past 3 to 4 visits ...I found the food not to standard and the wait was just too long. On one occasion my wife ordered an omelette when we had breakfast and there was more chillies in it than anything else. We vowed not to go back and this evening whilst shopping in Gateway...I talked my wife in to going and having some cuppachino of which we agreed on....hoping things would have changed in the past 4 months or so. But no....our cuppachino was served cold....and after awaiting around 20 minutes or so or cheese and tomato sandwich came. We ordered salad but was given fries. We said it was ok as we held our cool and didn't want to argue. My sandwich was so dry with tomatoes stuffed in the middle. I clicked a few pics...to post on Facebook and Helopeter. I personally feel...in today's business world..we are suffering to keep the economy stabilised and business and service like this should be made public and not supported. I will never go back to Circus Circus and ask the public not to support tardiness of this nature. Very disappointing...
