2025!
Remains my most iconic and favourite landmark!
Every day, I can see the landmark from Durbans Berea ridge and although far away, it simply is a sight to behold!
My best angle to see and enjoy the way it Dominates everything is part the way up along Umhlanga Rocks drive halfway up the hill as it’s simply by day or night a Fantastic set of various buildings with the main tallest one 34 floors including the podium, the glass design and the upper floors of the Pencil club that are the main focal point of this incredible building!
Without the talent building of this landmark, the mixed used development would be nothing amazing!
Of course the best angle is from the Address corner of this road and Nacondo place as You get the perspective of the glass arch and the 2 varying buildings!
But when I first saw this on a board in 2017, while walking about here, it was sort of a different but obviously iconic place it is today!
I viewed this as definitely to become the tallest building on Umhlanga ridge!
In 2019, I saw this under construction from a spot along the N 4 highway and it simply looked like a talll building, similar to the way and design of the Leonardo building In Sandton city, tallest building in SA, Simply with its soaring slimline but eye catching design is how I looked at our own version of this building but in a very different but iconic design, rose way above the pretty flat skyline of the new CBD of Durban!
Complete by 2020, what a most beautiful and impressive landmark she is!
I’ve been here a few times visiting the podium and had a meal or 2 and planning another soon!
I recommend going here but not on a windy day to enjoy the awesome atmosphere, incredible panoramic views towards Umhlanga that is developing very rapidly with new tall buildings and have a meal, enjoy these views and walk around the podium, take in the perspective of the 2 buildings and chat to people but for shopping too expensive and nothing I could really buy unless they decide to sell some souvenirs of this place, such as a nice picture book, a virtual mini building you can take home and place it on your table,
Maybe one day, even if it’s not cheap, open up the viewing deck of the Pencil club to the public so everyone can enjoy the 360 degree views of KZN !
Looking unlikely but otherwise as I’m never likely to stay here, it’s just my...
Read moreUpon arrival I had to park at the Arch (very confusing) had to walk with luggage to the Arch Apartments complete the biometrics prior to my parking being allocated, drop bags off at the apartment, then walk back to the car and park in the Arch Apartments parking. This is not client friendly and is a redundant process inconvenient to clients . Parking’s are not easily identifiable which leaves guests driving around adding frustration to the process. The reservation was in an apartment located next to an air conditioner with an unacceptable noise level. In addition, I was greeted with an exceptionally dirty apartment, pics to be supplied if required. I requested to be relocated to work in peace and quiet but had to follow up twice to get action on moving to another unit, this also required telephones call to and external staff member. There is no back up electricity during loadshedding and to add further dissatisfaction no emergency lights supplied. Arriving back to the block after dinner during load shedding entrance was denied after biometrics failed due to no power. The lobby was pitch black and I had to bang on the door for access. I was informed there was no DSTV and guests are required to bring their own cards. Nothing in the booking process advised of this. After relocation to another apartment on the 6th floor I was met with a strong smell of sewage and had to close the bathroom door to stop it from entering the apartment. When I returned to the unit on day 2 it was not cleaned, and the bed not made to an acceptable standard. Additionally, the coffee and tea were not replaced and the towels were still left outside to dry. The floors were extremely dirty with a previous guest’s hair and cutlery was not clean. The Wifi was not working, and I was advised this could only be resolved during office hours, despite my efforts to contact the emergency number This is unacceptable given this is a business trip this should be minimum standard. Lastly was required to fill in a refund form to endure the refund was timeous, again another frustration point.
In summary a terrible experience, Umhalanga Arch Properties are very aware of these long standing...
Read moreYour hotel stole over R200000 from rentals of apartments and R20000 as our deposit and started to lie and make false claims that we stole things from their apartments and they needed to fix things. They stole our things and still had the audacity to search all of our things as if we are thieves even though we rent multiple apartments there for months at a time and when they found nothing from searching us, they start to make fake accusations that we stole things from the apartment even though the people responsible managers Conrad, Marlene, Tholani and cleaning staff were trying to threaten us and try to kick us out in order for them to steal our rental and deposit amounts for the apartments they even claim that we stole the toilet brush. The only thieves that we can see at this terrible hotel are the people that are responsible and working at the Umhlanga Arch Apartments. I have already contacted my lawyers and will be suing this thieving hotel. These thieves must not think we are any random people that they can try and screw over and bullshit into trying to steal our deposit, this started almost 2 months ago and till today they keep coming with false claims constantly adding more and more items that they “claim” we stole, these thieves are probably the ones taking it to put in their crappy houses and trying to claim...
