Our family weekend getaway to Holiday Inn Express Umhlanga was a pleasant experience overall. The room provided ample space for our family of four, though we found it to be 4 out of 5 in terms of cleanliness. Most of the staff were friendly and welcoming, which added to the positive atmosphere. The highlight was undoubtedly the breakfast, which offered a good selection and stunning outside views overlooking the ocean.

However, we were slightly disappointed with the lack of activities for the kids beyond the pool, especially considering we were there over the Easter weekend. We expected a bit more of an Easter vibe or efforts to make the stay more enjoyable for children. Despite this, the hotel's convenient location near various amenities such as the beach, malls, and restaurants allowed us to venture out for meals and entertainment. While the hotel itself doesn't offer room service, having the Butcher Block restaurant next door was convenient.

If you have allergies, I would not recommend. The carpets and blankets made my husband sick with allergies, resulting in him sneezing the whole stay.

In summary, our stay at Holiday Inn Express Umhlanga was lovely and memorable, thanks to the spacious room, friendly staff, and convenient location. I'm on my 4th day since my arrival at the hotel. It's a very quiet area, sound waves triggers mind relaxation,I'm loving every moment. A very safe area, you experience no fear at all. About the internal experience of the hotel 🏨, it's very very clean, high level of professionalism from the cleaning crew, they leave the room spotless, towels packed accordingly, utensils are clean, fresh smelling rooms, linens always changed, the carpet is very clean, no funny smells. The receptionist are professional at all times, at their desk you are their priority, when you call they answer the phone quickly and respond to your request immediately. They are highly trained, I straggled in the lift, immediately I received an intercom while still in the lift ,I was impressed. They take notice of everything. The kitchen, since from day 1, provided fresh breakfast, variety of food, hot drinks and cold juices to choose from, they have it all. Friendly ladies always moving in-between the tables to clear them and assist incase you need help. Never experienced load shedding, even if they had I'm sure they have strong backup but as their guests it's something you need not to worry about. We booked in here for a short stay. There was a little confusion with regards to our booking so the manager Lunga stepped in and he was so helpful & friendly. He sorted out the issues promptly and we were booked in. The room was clean and neat. It contains a little coffee station, desk and a pull out couch which is rather large (about a double bed size). The bathroom was so clean and neat, it contained fresh towels, little soap, shampoo etc. The room also has a hairdryer and an iron and board. Buffet breakfast contained a variety of food such as eggs, sausages, fresh fruit, juices, deli meats, pastries etc. The dining room is quite spacious as well. This hotel has a steakhouse in-house called The Butcher Block which is rather convenient if you don’t want to leave the hotel but can still have a sit down dinner.
