Read moreI was told that this was the best food I'd eat in Hermanus.. And you know what, it probably was up there... Top 5 but definitely not THE BEST! We started out with some cheese tortellini with mushrooms in a truffle sauce. Hands down the best dish of the night. We then shared an asparagus panzerotti with a creamy pea sauce. Also good, but didn't quite get the asparagus. There were a variety of typical Italian dishes like Osso Bucco, chicken saltimbocca and Porchetta. We opted to share the Porchetta as nothing else really appealed. It was okay. The crackling was burnt to a cinder and the meat was a bit dry. Gnocchi were lovely and veg were rather bland and uninteresting. The Amaretto chocolate mousse for dessert wasn't great at all. Tasted more like a butter cream icing you'd expect to find sandwiched between two layers of cake. I want my mousse light n fluffy n airy. This wasn't it and left my mouth coated in an oily aftertaste. There's a decent selection of imported Italian wines but expect to pay some serious cash for them. We opted for a local Sangiovese from Idiom wines which was perfect and a bottle I'd happily drink again. If you've never been to Dal Italia you definitely need to make a visit. The deli is choc full of Italy's finest. Bring a wad of cash or your platinum Amex. You'll need it. We'll come back again for lunch sometime. Some pasta or a sandwich from the deli. The quest for excellent food in Hermanus continues... It...

Let's begin with the positive: the aromas are what drew me to the restaurant. Lovely store like Little Italy. The decor in store is lovely, and the employees are pleasant, though only to some extent.
We ordered a salami panini, which was delicious, but for three slices of salami, cheese, and tomatoes at R135, that's quite expensive. Only the panni, no garnish. That's a really tiny piece!! I requested a pasta meal featuring salmon. The sauce was fantastic, yet everything else was overly salty!!
We ordered rock shandy for R60 each, filled with so much ice that hardly any drink remained.
The waiter presented a bill of R445 for two plates of food smaller than a starter, along with a small shandy.
The server inquired whether I would be leaving a gratuity. No, I didn’t want to leave a tip by card; I preferred to give her cash directly and express my gratitude. In that manner, she have taken the machine, rushed indoors, and caused a commotion by disparaging us to the other individual. We expressed, "Thanks, enjoy your day," and the man accompanying her could have murdered us...
