Mikro Coffee is one of the few new Microroasters popping up in Hermanus, contributing to a long-needed revamp of the coffee scene and culture in the Overberg.
On offer is some really well roasted (light to medium roast) single origin beans from reputable farms, roasted in the cafe. Mikro also has their own blend for those who are interested in the blended scene. The space has a really nice, naturally lit, authentic feel, with very friendly, helpful and welcoming staff.
The usual coffees are on offer - espresso based with and without milk, and a healthy selection of milk alternatives, V60 and MoccaMaster, and some cold offerings. There are also options for those who don’t enjoy coffee, such as juice and tea. There isn’t much of a food offering, but they do have a very nice croissant (plain, or with cheese and salami), some brownies and other snackies.
Coffees range from R23-36 for espresso-based drinks, and R36-50 for cold and manual offerings.
The coffee shop offers quite a lot of seating, and the staff are happy for people to work remotely from the cafes. You’ll likely bump into a local or international digital nomad getting their great coffee drink for the day.

He guided us through flavour and texture, led us in the art of explanation and ultimately built an arena where he excelled in the knowledge of Arabica
Do yourself a favour and step into Mikro coffee. Allow yourself to listen and absorb. Be presently surprised at the hospitality because you'll feel right at home
Well done...
Read moreWe are coffee junkies. We have tried all the places. This one offers the best coffee in town. Smooth, round, well-crafted. Not only that. The space itself is minimalistic and decluttered. The coffee machine is at the centre (where is that beautiful lime/yellow coloured machine? It was a piece of art). The guys who run it a super friendly and easy to talk to, very keen on sharing their experience. I highly recommend you try this out. One suggestion I have, though. I believe that excellence in one department should be equalled by excellence in other aspects too. There are two wall paintings they should really...
