Theo's are clearly doing something right. Decent food at affordable prices in a great atmosphere. What more do you want? Well... Our meal there the other night was tasty. We ordered some dips of humus, baba ganoush and tarama to stave the hunger while we waited for our giros. We were told they'd arrive at about the same time. I was happy with that. Within minutes the tablespoon of each dip arrived with some pitas, then a bottle of wine turned up - no glasses.. We waited for those... Then the waiter had to run around trying to find a bottle opener. Eventually we got sorted.... But then we waited and another hour and a quarter for our giros... Hangriness set in. They were tasty, but the Greek fries were a little disappointing. Definitely not fresh out of the frier, they had spent some time in the cool off zone. Ah well. My impression is that there's not much actually made in the restaurant. The dips and pitas are definitely brought in (prove me wrong Theo's) which is a shame. Also why have Greek ish things on the menu? You're either a Greek restaurant or you're not. There must be some classic Greek dishes you can add instead of a bloody chicken snitzchel? 😅 It's still the most happening place in Hermanus right now,...
Read more⭐️ 100% recommended ⭐️ Came to Theo’s on our last night in SA - we’d walked past the night before and the atmosphere instantly drew us in. The owner playing backgammon with a customer, the murals, the ambiance - it really was the best welcome.
Food was absolutely mouth watering. The 4 of us didn’t talk the whole time and savoured every bite. The staff were friendly, attentive and (we are guessing it was him) Theo, the owner is the biggest character you’ll meet. Would have tried everything on the menu if my belly had allowed. I had chicken souvlaki and tzatziki which I am now going to have to try and replicate in UK. The baclava was so good it must have been a family recipe.
Go to Theo’s! You won’t be...
Read moreWe passed by Theo’s Taverna a few days ago and thought it looked lovely and full of ambience. We were absolutely right as we popped back last night and had a wonderful meal!
I had chicken yiros as I wanted to try something traditionally Greek. It was so delicious, and I would highly recommend. All four of us enjoyed our meal immensely and again I would mention the ambience, which was just fabulous.
Theo (we assume!) came to see us several times to check how our visit was going, he was fun and friendly and attentive, as were all the staff we encountered :)
Thanks so much for a brilliant last supper on holiday in beautiful South Africa. We...
