Not sure how this place is so highly rated. My wife and I went there for lunch. I ordered the Caesar salad and she ordered the pretzel.
Let's start with the CAESAR salad. So, the reason it is called a CAESAR salad, is because of the CAESAR salad dressing. It is what makes the salad a CAESAR salad. When I received my salad, there was ZERO dressing on it. As in NONE. The "bacon" was also severely under cooked. When I finally managed to flag down my waitress and tell her there is no dressing on the salad, it took another 5 minutes to bring me dressing. Then when the dressing came, it literally tasted like they mixed mayonnaise with some milk and called it a dressing. CAESAR dressing has a VERY specific taste. It has very specific ingredients. There dressing is NOT a Caesar dressing. I would avoid this menu item completely if I were you.
Then there is the pretzel. This establishment is called a Brauhaus. Has anyone from there actually ever ordered a pretzel from an Authentic Brauhaus? If you were expecting a nice warm giant pretzel, you will be VERY disappointed... as my wife was. The pretzel was almost room temperature and MAYBE the size of my fist. Did I mention it was stale too? It was like something you bought from a vending machine at a gas station when there were no other options. She also asked for cheese sauce... generally a given when you order a Pretzel at a proper Brauhaus. What she was brought was some concoction of flour mixes with what appeared to be yellow food flavoring... and it was COLD. As in not heated at all.
The waitress came over to ask how everything was. I was blunt with her. I told here everything I just told you. She said she would bring a manager over. I insisted. No. Please don't I don't want to cause a scene.
Five minutes later... you guessed it... the manager was at the table. I explained everything. He said he was sorry. Now at this point in the USA (and most other countries) the manager would offer to comp the food (not the drinks). No such thing. They even still charged us for the cold cheese sauce, which my wife didn't even touch.
In all honesty. Extremely disappointed with the whole experience. We will never be back. I would suggest you look elsewhere for your...
Read moreQuite a mixed experience - the Brauhaus franchise gets all the usual fittings making for a good restaurant. But this branch was slow and the food was below par. The restaurant was 3-quarters full at most, but took 15 minutes to be greeted after we found our own table. I got my own menu's from a waiter station and was asked if they could be used for another table before we were greeted or offered a drink. Food took 60 minutes. Starters came after mains, once the waiter was reminded about them, and the mains were a "mixed-bag". It must be said however, that my burger was fantastic, yet my colleague's was burnt badly, although the kitchen made an obvious attempt to hide this. One guest raved about her dish saying it was her "regular" and she really enjoyed it, while my partner's food came out first and came out cold (not sure how this was possible), but we didn't get a chance to ask to have it heated up as no one checked on the guests. She decided to grin and bare it as after sitting for 2 hours she was starving. When we asked for small variances in dishes we were told the kitchen can't do that when the restaurant is too busy.
There's so much promise here, and it showed in the dishes that were good, but there's either a staffing issue or a management issue but with so little interaction (never saw a manager) it's tough to tell. This restaurant, in this location, will be a gem once it...
Read moreI am a german so I did book a table with friends at the Brauhaus and for me it was a disaapointment because quite clearly the Restaurant is trying to sell itself as a german restaurant but fails on various fronts. Lets start with the atmosphere : its nicely laid out and has huge potential however a typica German Brauhaus is where people meet to have conversations with each other - this was nt possibe because of a two man band which was so loud that any conversation, even with the person next to you was impossible. That for me spoilt the entire evening to its core - A Brauhaus should not be permit live music of any kind lest it is in the back ground and does not drown out any conversation. Weiss Bier is supposed to be served in long slender curved weiss bier glasses in order to allow the beer to develop its flavour profiles and not in a beer mug. I can only comment on my meal - I ordered "Eisbein" - now there is a huge difference between Eisbein and Schweinshaxe. Eisbein is a traditonal dish from Berlin where the pork shank is brined and then cooked until soft and served in a cooked not grilled state. Schweinshaxe or Grillhaxe is not brined but slowly grilled until crispy brown outside and soft and tender on the inside. Your version was a cross between Eisbein and Grillhaxe because it was brined and then grilled with changed the texture of the dish completely and was...
