Went here for dinner with family, at the end of May and had a disastrous experience. We made reservations for an early dinner the day before. the restaurant started to fill up as we were seated and waiting for our drinks. The wait was long, for drinks and then ridiculously long for food. The smoothies recommended, arrived warm. The food itself included a few pizzas, a lasagne and a vegetarian pizza (The gnocci option was not available). There was definitely an issue with the kitchen and staff…seemed to be challenging communication combined with slow turnaround time for food leaving the kitchen. After many enquiries about the delay during our 1,5 hour wait for food, we eventually received a few dishes. The first was a pizza that had no flavour to it, the crust was barely cooked and there was a surprise slice of raw tomato stuck to the bottom of the pizza (not sure if a dirty pizza plate was used or if the pizza was just placed onto a dirty surface before being plated). The pesto pasta was drowning in oil that had a lot of basil but was not a pesto, no sign of pine nuts or cheese. The pasta had no flavour and was not edible. The lasagne that was ordered to share because it was so hyped up and had a hefty price tag, was beyond disappointing. There were sheets of pasta stuck to each other because there was no sauce between those layers. For the rest, it was bland and not worth the price. For the most part, the food was not eaten. We had shared the pizza between some of us when it arrived because of the long wait but the rest were not eaten as 2 dishes never arrived and the rest were not edible. When we went to part-pay the bill, the manager insisted that we shouldn’t pay due to the issues they were experiencing. Many other customers were complaining about the long wait for food, the poor quality of the food and the service. This may be due to the location being somewhere new but even with the long wait, the food was not worth it. We eventually went to mugg n bean for a late dinner before going back...
Read moreIf there was zero stars that what I would give old town Italy in suncoast, my experience as follows, firstly coming from the industry I understand alot and can be patient, however a friend of mine got seated at old town Italy just after 5 this afternoon after waiting 20 mins with no service we decided to get up only to walk to the front and hear the waiters confused how our table was missed firstly we was not missed we called multiple waiters to please come to us and the same response we call someone. We decided we do not want to sit there and went to la parada for cocktails which the waiter from old town Italy said they can still serve us food which I'm presuming is the same owner across, I was told by the waiter we can order and it will be covered her exact words was it was their mistake. After an hour of waiting at la parada I decided to go to the bar pay for the cocktails as waiting for my bill I see the waiter one hour later with only the pizza and the bill which she then tells me they do not have the starter I ordered however I paid for the pizza and left a tip after being told it be on the house. I do not care about paying a bill. But for one do not make promises you can't keep and please send your waiters for some training, even if it is not your table there is nothing wrong with taking a drinks or food order for a colleague I did it all the time. As for la parada cocktail's was tasty service lacked again thank you to one waiter who eventually checked in as I was...
Read moreOn Saturday before attending a show at the Dome we made a reservation, hoping for a great meal on our date night, after looking at several restaurants, I chose Little Italy because I wanted it to be special and not just a fast food place like most of the places at Suncoast.
What a disappointment!
I ordered the Calamari Fritti at a cost of R245 with a side of chips, I would rate the meal 1/10 - The Calamari was tasteless and in my opinion less than a kiddies portion, I have seen starters in a bigger portion than this. I would estimate all in all maybe 10 tiny Calamari Tubes with the rest made up of what looked like scraps from a packet emptied into a fryer. Definitely not what I expected at that price!
My wife had the Beef Short Rib Tortellini and commented that it was like eating a Checkers Frozen meal, also tasteless and again the portion size, that of a kiddies meal with maybe 5-6 pieces of pasta and the short rib must have been a flavoring packet as it was nowhere to be seen!
All in all we would have been better off simply eating at Spur or even at the very worst going to a Mc Donalds.
Did I complain to management on the spot? NO! Simply because if they served us that it would have been the norm and all I would have got was "we are sorry you feel that way" - I speak with my wallet and my Google reviews! I wont be back and hopefully others reading this would consider twice before making the same mistake we did, unless all they want is a tasteless,...
