I give this place a 1 start review because the food is absolutely divine and the atmosphere is pleasant. I will however not be supporting this restaurant again, nor will I encourage my clients to have meetings with me here again. On the 25th January 2022 My partner and I ordered a meal each and a hot beverage each (totalling to R229). After our meals, we switched on our laptops and proceeded to catch up on work, as the restaurant was fairly quiet and Suncoast offers WiFi facilities. Regrettably after a short period of time, a Dr D Naidoo, one of the management staff approached us and rudely told us that it is not a work space for people to sit and work. He also mentioned that he confirmed with other management that we were here once previously working on our laptops. He rudely mentioned that our "R60" order does not justify us sitting there and working as it does not cover their rental of R150,000 a month. He did not ask us our names, nor did he take the time to ensure that we were having a good experience. We were not thanked for the support, but rather we felt a bitter taste in our mouths after we were asked to leave. It was the first time a quiet restaurant had a problem with the time their customers sat down versus the amount their bill comes to. Our total time we sat for was approximately 3 hours until we were asked to leave. Upon leaving, we walked past him and heard him complaining to someone on his mobile about how we were sitting and working, which I found to be extremely unprofessional. The point of his message was clear, people must eat and then leave, unless your order comes to a substantial amount. Their service is directly proportional to the patrons they have and the reviews posted on their service...
Read moreDid not have a pleasant experience on the first visit to this restaurant.
From the photos you will see the salad that came with the meal did not appear fresh at all. Looked like it was over a day old.
The chicken was not fresh, it was very powder like in its texture, it was also rather dry. Furthermore, on the menu it indicated the meal comes with a side of rice, this one came with chips. When I asked the waiter, he said that it does not come with chips anymore, eventually after asking the manager, he said that most people prefer chips.. man, if thats the case why cant you print new menu's for the table???
We did not receive compensation for this meal which I did not even finish.
In addition the waiter at the table was not very good with communication as after telling him about the food he said his manager is coming to speak to me, over half an hour later after requesting the manager then only did he get to the table.
We also ordered a vegetarian dish which had mushrooms that were not cooked, we were told, this is how the dish is served.
Driving over an hour from out of town, to sit down for this was utterly a waste of time. Our local tikka take outs prepare a much higher standard of food compared to this, let alone my own...
Read moreI had a disappointing experience at Thava Restaurant at Suncoast recently. I ordered the Chicken Dum Biryani, Kerala Paratha, and Chettinad Mutton. Unfortunately, the Chettinad Mutton didn’t taste authentic at all—it seemed more like a basic home-style curry, and the meat was quite tough and undercooked. The biryani was also below expectations; it felt like the rice and curry were cooked separately and then mixed together, lacking the rich, layered flavor you’d expect from proper dum biryani. To make it worse, they didn’t serve any side dish with the biryani—no salad, raita, or pickle as is usually done. Only after I asked, they brought some plain yogurt with a few pieces of cucumber. The paratha was just average. While the plates and bowls were hot (probably microwaved), the food itself wasn’t warm or freshly prepared. For the overall quality and portion size, the price was quite steep—I spent around R320. If you’re visiting for the fancy ambience, Thava might be worth a try, but if you’re looking for authentic South Indian flavours and good value for money, this might not be the...
