Check your take away before leaving this store.Standards have dropped completely.

I have been supporting from you guys first started Shongweni Market.

I really did not want to do this review, but when management do not return customers calls after making a complaint, I gave you guys the opportunity to respond and nothing.

So guys just beware when Visiting the Florida road branch we paid for our food and were told to come back in 20mins for pick up time 8:25pm store closes 9pm. I had guest from out the country and wanted them to experience this food. We went to another spot to grab some drinks then came back at 8:45,kitchen staff were nowhere to be found and cashier were cleaning the floors by the oven,we asked for our order and they looked at us like we speaking a different language, they did not make any thing.

My friend order 2 Prawn wraps l ordered 3 tandori chicken and 1 Bombay crush I was pissed and walked away while my friend waited to pick up our order, that was the worst mistake I could have made, long story short we get home I got wrap, sauce and salad and what ever remaining chicken that could scrape up 3 slivers of chicken No Bombay crush. So I got robbed That's what happens when you open multiple branches the quality drops, poor management and no customer care on something someone paid for. See the invoice below and dates until I actually posted a review.

I do this not speak badly but give you feedback on a bad experience I had and hopefully this doesn't happen to your other customers and you can put measures in place to prevent this from...

TLDR version: Atmosphere: Think Nandos with an Indian twist. Menu: Limited To Indian Style Naan Wraps. Food: Portions Sizes are large, taste is decent but nothing to knock your socks off.

Essentially this place specializes in one thing and that is naan (not the South African Version of naan) wraps. If the some the atmosphere of the establishment I'd some it as Nandos with an Indian Atmosphere and Indian menu. And essentially the quality of the food is equivalent to Nandos as well as the flavour profile of the food seems somewhat similar all be it with an with a hint of spice. The naan itself is soft and fluffy if a little on the plain side but pretty good none the less, the lamb kabab itself is your standard lamb kabab nothing too fancy where the meal is let down is by the generic vegetables which really takes away from the meal, if there was any special sauce in the lost in the torrent of lettuce, onion and tomato, the paneer wrap is alright if a little on the salty.

At the price point of R70 for both the lamb and paneer wraps its not a bad price at all with portions sizes being rather generous and will fill just about everybody up and actually too much for the people who don't have a large appetite but when it comes to taste you can get much tastier wraps that fill you up just as well.

It's worth visiting and trying every item on the menu at lease once but would you come back unless you really into the niche Indian Style of fast food you wouldn't be coming back to this...

used to be a huge and loyal fan. the difference between the umhlanga and florida branches are so stark however. the last three times i visited florida, i was met with poor service. old chips clearly refried. the parathas were not fresh. many items unavailable (worker says menu has to be updated), no actual menu or service, collecting ur hot food and drinks on ur own for ur whole table from the counter. we were told 15 mins and waiting 35 for just the tea alone. while there on monday, we noticed flies EVERYWHERE. they only cleaned the tables after a patron requested for them to be wiped due to the flies. whilst there 3 other parties showed up to tables. its not an exaggeration when i say every single party had their orders missing items or replaced with wrong items. the dark, dirty setting and the constant shouting of kitchen staff is tense and offputting. they were arguing and miscommunicating. then ignoring each other and not taking note that the machine broke and some orders had to be handwritten (so those were not being prepared). ABSOLUTELY APPALLING.

ps: if karak chai is never available at any branch along with some of the other items, remove them from the menu. the fancy stained glass at the pearls isnt enough to help people forget they have wasted their money at another of your establishments. fixing the image comes with fixing the...

Not worth the extended wait, underwelming rotis - The restaurant concept, decor and location proved alluring. A large waiting crowd, inadequate seating and waiting room along with a uncertain waiting time exhausted our patience and extinguished our appetites. At no stage in the 45 minutes it took to receive our order did staff or management advise myself or other waiting customers, around me, of the expected delay, tender apologies or attempt to facilitate a more comfortable wait. People had little option but to stand around, some overflowing into the parking lot. Used wrapping and soft drink cans littered the outside tables. After 40mins I was forced to stand at the service counter repeatedly demanding my order, staff apeared tired, laboured and unconcerned. Cannot fault the food on quality, yet proved difficult to impress, lacked the spice we requested and fell short of the flare we expected. This may be excusable for places with multiple items on offer, not so for Roti and Chai with just 4 Roti Wraps on the menu.

Nestled in a back alley on Florida Road, this Tandoor Kitchen caters for the more affluent crowd. The menu is limited as it should be. Offering somewhat authentic street food, the paneer wrap we ordered hit the spot but I would not say it was amazing. My hunger may have exaggerated my delight. For Indian street food, it is expensive. The paneer wrap is priced at R70, take away. You can sit at a table and make use of a paper plate and plastic utensils. The wall art and lighting is very good. 10/10 for use of space. There are 6 four-seater tables inside the take away and 2 outside although it can get a little cramped give the space is shared with a burger place next door. All in all, food was good. Ambience was good. Attracts a more affluent crowd which is good too.
