PNB Hanok Village Branch (Jeonju) If you're exploring Jeonju Hanok Village and craving something sweet, this iconic bakery is a must-visit. Established in 1951, PNB Pungnyeon Bakery is the birthplace of Koreaโ€™s beloved choco pie.

Signature Treats Original Choco Pie: A luxurious dessert blending soft marshmallow, sweet jam, and rich chocolate Strawberry & Chestnut Choco Pies: Premium variations offering unique flavors Other favorites: Traditional Korean treats like jeonbyeong, busse, and old-style bread

Final Note A delicious way to wrap up your Jeonju trip. Enjoying a choco pie amid the charm of the Hanok Village truly captures "the taste of Jeonju." Even with long lines, itโ€™s a sweet experience worth...

As a Jeonju native familiar with Pungnyeon Bakeryโ€™s renowned choco pie in Jeonju Hanok Village, I visited with my family from the UK and local relatives after a long time. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing.

Pungnyeon Bakery is centrally located in Jeonju Hanok Village, making it highly accessible. Itโ€™s easy to find while exploring the village. We visited in the evening before closing, and with only our family as customers, it wasnโ€™t crowded.

The shop retains the traditional charm of Hanok Village, but the interior felt cramped and somewhat disorganized. Even with no other customers, the space didnโ€™t feel particularly tidy or inviting.

The biggest letdown was the staffโ€™s attitude. While browsing the choco pies and other baked goods, without even touching anything, the staff sharply told us to โ€œonly look with your eyes.โ€ This unfriendly demeanor was surprising, especially in a quiet shop with just our family present. We were simply hoping for a pleasant time together, so this left us quite unsettled. I had high hopes for Pungnyeonโ€™s famous choco pie, but it disappointed. The size seemed smaller than before, and the priceโ€”around 2,500 KRW per pieceโ€”was exorbitant. The taste was underwhelming, barely different from a standard store-bought choco pie. The hard chocolate coating, cream, and jam combination was nothing special, offering poor value...

If you like the snack version of the chocopie you can get at the shops and the convenience stores, you must try these ones!! You have several PNB shops around so feel free to go to any. We bought some original chocolate ones and also matcha and chocolate one. The chocolate one was great, like a pro version of the snack one, a lot of chocolate flavour. But the match and chocolate one was amazing! I loved it so much I regret only getting one of this. You can take several as souvenirs as they last for a while, so feel free to indulge! The lady recommended, on top of the chocolate one, the matcha and the cheesecake ones. Maybe next time I also need to try...

***Eat it with an ice cold cup of milk*** There are many PNB shops in the city so there is no rush if you are in the city for a few days. It is two cake patties with jam inside and dipped in a flavored chocolate. It is definitely better than the stuff you find in the convenience store. I think it would be good to pack as a dessert on a road trip or take on a plane as a quick snack. There is no seating so you have to take out and find a spot to eat. I think there are other branches that offers seating. Overall I think it is okay but not something I would crave but definitely worth a try.
