7.8 Makgeolli — Restaurant in Seoul

First time trying makgeolli – and wow, what a way to start! We hit up 7.8 Makgeolli in Jung District, and this cozy two-story house instantly set the mood with hip-hop beats, funky posters, and a chill-but-cool vibe.

We kicked things off with the original makgeolli, got fruity with the strawberry one, and finished in style with their so-called Korean Dom Perignon (an absolute favorite). The best part? The staff kept surprising us with extra sips from their wild flavor collection all night – like a makgeolli tasting adventure we didn’t know we needed.

Food? Next level. The flame-grilled pork was juicy and packed with flavor, and the potato pancake hit the perfect crispy-chewy balance.

Best makgeolli place for young people! I've been here almost 10 times now. This place has over 30 different handpicked makgeolli from all kinds of regions in Korea and AMAZING food!! New makgeolli and food come in and go very often so there's always something new. Combination of modern and old school Korean interior is also a very nice experience.

All the owners from US Canada Korea are very very passionate about makgeolli and are really nice. They need to open new places!!!

The only cons are that there's waiting most of the time unless you come early and it can't hold a big...

Forced alcohol charge, reported to authorities.

I came to eat, but they forced me to buy a bottle of alcohol for 9,000 won as a condition to stay, even after I explained I don’t drink and the food was poor. I barely touched it I never even saw the bottle, but paying for it was the only way they let me leave. I had to pay 48,000 won.

This is illegal under Korean law. I’m reporting them to the National Tax Service for unfair alcohol trading practices. Be careful with this place....
