First of all, I would like to talk about the atmosphere. We visit the place during spring to summer season so it was quite hot on that time. However that time, they didn’t switch the aircond in the restaurant at all and only rely on the wind that came from the door (since they keep the door open). What make it worst, we sit downstair which near with the kitchen. So you can imagine how hot we feel that time? We already feel hot and tired so we expect at least we can relax a bit in the restaurant with the aircond on. I’m assuming either the aircond was defunctional or they want to cut the electricity cost (what a cheapskate). So, 1 star from me.
Next, food. I can’t really say much about the food due to the discomfort and hot atmosphere I feels. My appetite and sense of teste got cut since I feels hot. So I can’t comment on this. However, there’s no banchan (side dishes) provided considering it is ‘korea’? Isn’t it normal for a korean restaurant to serve a free fill 2/3 types of banchan? But there’s no such thing in here. Not sure if they are trying to cut the cost as well? (which sounds cheapskate again to me). And then, I will need to pay KRW1000 if I wants to take away my leftover food (since I can’t finish it and want to get out from the restaurant as soon as possible). So 3 stars from me.
Last but not least, service. This part was ok. The cashier was friendly and welcoming. Even the food was serve quite fast (I think due to the less customer as well). I can’t really comment how will it be if there’s a lot of customer come in.
Overall, 2 stars from me since I didn’t feel happy, satisfied and comfortable to be here. I just wants to leave as soon as possible. If can, I wants to give 1 star only. But considering the cashier politely ask us to leave a review and in return they give us free camned drink, out of pity I’ll...
Read moreMost Msian are super excited for this viral shop. So far, they ve managed to mimic the true taste of Msia dishes. I ve ordered the nasi goreng cili and nasi goreng pattaya along with the tantalising Korean Style half & half fried chicken and telur dadar. Food was deliciously seasoned, but the spiciness were rather toned down unlike the true Msian pedas. Restaurant was kept clean, with the ambiance of your neighbourhood korean restaurant. A very thoughtful, convenient touch to provide a prayer room on the second floor. Kampungku is located along the road towards the N Seoul tower, so expect slight steepness, narrow alleyways. Fortunately for Muslim people, especially Msia, this location is abundant of other halal restaurants and so far Ive met so many other Msian and Indo tourists here to chat along with, compared to other districts in Seoul. KampungKu staffs are super accommodating too, shout out to them for assisting me to hail a cab, plus, we can converse in Bahasa Msia as well. Downside are, they allegedly working with travel agent such as Arba, hence the restaurant is like a sure stopover for tourist group and walk ins are highly recommended to make a booking before hand. Also, they should really highlight online and on social media, that the restaurant breaks at 4pm Seoul time, so that visitors could chill elsewhere outside while waiting. Overall, the food are pricey yet still a must dining experience if u are truly desperate of that Msian food while...
Read moreWe went there twice during our stay in Seoul. Location is quite close to Myeongdong St. A bit of a walk uphill, where you can clearly see the Namsan Tower. We had our dinner there during our both visits at around 5pm. Both times were full of customers, where the ground floor was full and we're normally among the first to fill up the upper restaurant.
I would suggest to make a reservation is you would like to come at a usual peak meal time or you're in a big group; otherwise you might be disappointed. We didn't make a reservation but during our visit, we were told by the restaurant staff&manager that we have to 'settle' our meal time and leave by 6.10pm which was in about an hour or so because there's a reservation made at 6.20pm. So yeah, the service was quite fast. We got our food at a reasonable waiting time. We had our meal at our comfort and managed to finish eating and leave within the time.
Food wise was okay, reasonably set at a standard price in Seoul I would say. Chicken was crispy and good, other food that we ordered also nice and wasn't too bad.
They have a small grocery halal supermarket next to the restaurant. You can get the halal almond Nuts Holic there. Price at that time was 5000krw per packet of 180g, which I think was the cheapest we can get in the market at that time. They also have other halal snacks and convenient food. All in all, good and...
