CHAEUM KOREAN TRADITIONAL RESTAURANT — Restaurant in Seoul

We stumbled upon this place by chance (the "Halal" word caught our attention 🤣).

When we made our way to B2, we didn't expect such large eating place.

We had the KRW 25,000 menu x 2 pax. Hansik menu are usually large in portion so we didn't add-on any other dish.

Love the demo on how they transfer that large "tray of food" - I took a short video. They also explained about nurungji (scorched rice) - the bottom bits of rice, mixed with water, to be eaten at end of meal. We made our nurungji with leftover soup (instead of mul/water 😅)

Everything was tasty! My fave was japchae, the fish & mushroom banchan. There were a lot of banchan (side dishes). Being just 2 pax, they were more than enough for us, so we didn't ask for refill (typical Hansik place offers free banchan refills).

Overall - a very satisfyingly yummy lunch. Will definitely be back on our next trip to Seoul 😍🌟

Our culinary highlights while in Korea. Best food! We love the ambience with lots of traditional pieces/antiques to admire, the wonderful customer service provided explaining to us the dishes, the impressive display of the dishes (banchans) and the delicious traditonal cuisines. The beef ribs are so good and the banchans are super tasty. Our family love the food and enjoyed ourselves so much. Truly a highlight for us! Ended meal with a tour of the restaurant by the waiter showing us and explaining the many antiques pieces. The owner even came out and chatted with us. A really wonderful dining experience. We were surprised by how close it was to myeongdong station! We got the 25,000 won set, and it was really filling, so we didn’t ask for the free refills. We enjoyed the variety offered and appreciated how fresh the vegetable dishes were. One of the staff members even demonstrated how to make the scorched rice porridge (?), which we ended up loving. The staff were all very friendly, too!

On a side note, I’d like to thank one of the staff for being so patient while I tried to explain that I might have lost something in the restaurant - even though it was already closing time.
