Best Ramen in Seoul
This ramen shop will always have a line of patrons waiting to enter its cozy interior with only several tables usually for parties of 4 and seating at the bar.
It has 4 options on its menu Tori Paitan (creamy chicken broth) Kara Paitan (spicy creamy chicken broth) Shoyu (soy sauce broth) Shio (salt broth)
You can have add ons such as a soft boiled egg or the traditional chashu pork slices.
And 2 drink options of either beer or coca-cola.
My brother and I were seated at the bar (good news for travelers this place accepts visa and mastercards). There is a machine you are suppose to order from in the front but the day we went it was broken. (Staff spoke decent english, there is also an english menu).
I went with their classic Tori paitan option and let me tell you that broth they make in this shop is to die for. It's creamy but not heavily so with a strong flavor of chicken umami. The noodles perfectly al dente so you get that nice chewy texture. And the chicken breast they use in lieu of chashu is perfect of this chicken based ramen.
And tip for 1st time diners, do not drink your broth after you finish your noodles, you can order a half size refill of noodles and chicken at no charge (unsure if there is a limit to how many refills you can get). So come hungry but when you leave you will be utterly satisfied and thinking of your...

Placing your order: Order your meal and drinks from the yellow machine at the top of the stairs. Cash and credit cards accepted. The menu itself is shown in Korean and English; use Papago or Google translate to navigate through the payment options. (We were kindly helped by locals this last part as well.) Wait for your receipt number to be called to enter the venue should there be a wait. It was a 35 minute wait for us when we got there at 4:50 pm.
Food selected: Tori Paitan (11,000 Won), Chicken ramen: comes with tender peppercorn sous vide chicken breast meat, seasoned egg, wood ear mushrooms, fresh green onion, caramelized onions and creamy chicken broth. We chose the option to add extra pork meat topping.
Seating: It was a smaller venue but turnover is relatively quick at the time we went.
Ramen team: Staff is very friendly and welcoming. They were very efficient and coordinated in doing all the cooking and cleaning in the small...
Read moreLocated near the vibrant streets of Hongdae, this Michelin-starred ramen shop specializes in just two offerings: tori paitan and its spicy counterpart. Curious to compare, I tried both versions. Initially, I feared the added heat might overshadow the broth's inherent flavors, yet was pleasantly surprised to find the spicy variant mirrored the original's taste, merely enhanced by a bit of spice (not too spicy). The broth was notably clean and rich on the palate. Despite feeling a bit of grease in my mouth post-meal, it remained a satisfying experience. The perfectly soft-boiled egg added to everything as well. At 11,000 WON, the value is unbeatable in Korea, though it may not claim the title of the best ramen. The popularity of the place means facing potential wait times, which may not be good if you want to come here often. Content with having tried it but probably won’t come here again anytime soon.
