Ufotable & Machi Asobi Cafe Hongdae — Restaurant in Seoul

I had a very unpleasant experience at this store. One of the staff members was nice, but another was extremely rude. I originally planned to stay and eat, but I got distracted by the merchandise. While gently touching one of the items to get a feel for it, a staff member suddenly yelled at me in Korean. I don’t speak Korean, so I didn’t understand what he said. Then, he rudely grabbed the merchandise out of my hand and said, “No touch.” I wasn’t being rough with the item at all, so his reaction really shocked me. It was an uncomfortable and disappointing experience, and it definitely ruined my impression...

This was a very fun experience for me since I am a huge fan of Ufotable. You need to get a reservation which you can do at the door and you are given a number. Also they are only open at certain times as shown on the door sign. The food is all themed and you get a poster depending on what you order. There is a section for exclusive merchandise which you can't find outside the cafe. The merchandise is very high quality and quite cheap. Overall a very fun experience and a little gem for anime...

Ideal for fans of ufotable, with film clips, posters, decorations, books and original key-frame sketches on display. Pretty expensive (~₩12,000 for mains and ₩6000 for drinks) - they cleverly link each menu item to a 'free' merchandise giveaway (coasters and placemats etc) so fans will want to return to collect the set!
