Dirty and I mean DIRTY, dark, unwelcoming, inefficient. Nothing but a bed. The windows are essentially two holes in the wall. Barely any sunlight at any time. Unbelievably dirty too so even less than zero sunlight. Mind if you like to come home for an afternoon rest during peak heat hours. The cleanliness of rather complete lack thereof is a huge issue. At first we seriously contemplated moving to a reputable hotel across the road (hongik exit 1) we had previously stayed at but failed to book a room as it was late in the evening. So we decided to make it work with what we could obtain from a nearby daiso. The stay might as well be called experiential, I literally had to clean the room myself upon arrival for the first time in my life. We bought wet wipes and cleaned the surfaces. Believe me when I say the wipes were BLACK. Used all 150 pieces on one room. No one ever touched the mirror frame, the upper shelves, ever. I washed the windows inside and out where I could reach. In a HOTEL. Like, I have stayed in a 3-star hotel more than once and this is just not how it is supposed to look. The floors dirty, slippers not disposable, the rubber multi use ones. Obviously no mention of previous disinfection and even if there had been one I wouldn't have believed it anymore. Towels stained, no explanation needed. Bought room slippers and shower slippers, too. I just couldn't bring myself to be there barefoot. Laid the sink with a towel and bought glass not paper glasses to store toothbrushes and such. I simply avoided looking below the sink the whole time after noticing the amount of dust on the floor. Common areas are rather dirty too, the carpet in the hall had something white smeared on it the whole time, no one bothered to clean. Just 3 hangers, which I didn't even try to comprehend in a room intended to house two adults. No room for storing clothes so we had to live with our suitcases open which is a shame. No shelves, no cupboard, no towel hangers but one near a window with curtained so dusty I avoided touching them. Noise insulation is poor, we could hear people staying above, people in the hall, sounds of a laundry or pipes. The toilet is also super loud so waking up if your partner uses the bathroom at night is guaranteed. Bottom line not recommended mainly due to...
Read morerom the moment I arrived at the 9 Brick Hotel in Seoul, Korea, I knew my stay in the Classic Penthouse would be nothing short of exceptional. The comfort of the bed, combined with the perfectly calibrated heating and air conditioning, ensured a restful night’s sleep. The pillows, oh! They were simply amazing, adding to the overall comfort.
The terrace was an absolute highlight, offering gorgeous views and a serene spot to unwind. The room’s decor struck the perfect balance between hip and cool, with a comfortable couch and stylish leather chairs that invited relaxation. The welcoming and really friendly women at the front desk made check-in a breeze and added a personal touch to my stay.
The hotel’s location in the heart of Hongdae is unbeatable, placing guests right in the thick of vibrant street life, shopping, and entertainment options. It’s truly a gem for anyone wanting to experience the dynamic energy of Seoul.
While my experience was overwhelmingly positive, I have a few recommendations that could make future stays even more comfortable. Adding a full-length mirror would be a practical and appreciated touch. Expanding counter space in the bathroom, adding a lip to the shower to prevent water from leaking, and incorporating more storage options in the bedroom, such as drawers or shelves for clothes and a few more hangers, would enhance the functionality and convenience of the penthouse.
Overall, my stay at the 9 Brick Hotel’s Classic Penthouse was an unforgettable experience. The blend of comfort, style, and warm hospitality, coupled with an amazing location, makes this hotel a top choice for anyone...
Read moreLocation was superb, right smack at Hongdae! Lots of eateries, shopping and pochas. All you ever need is in hongdae tbh.Room: Room looks amazing. Very couple-oriented hotel, large mirror by the bed, large bathtub, and ceiling-to-floor windows. Hotel lobby and walkways look amazing. View was ok, room cleaning and amenities were good. Pillow and bed was comfy and room was pretty big too. Toilet seat has bidet and auto-flush which was nice. Toothbrush and hair dryer was high quality, shampoo smells ok - all toothbrush and shampoo and other items were replaced daily (wow). Shower and bathtub was powerful, comes with rain shower as well.Wifi was strong, SmartTV with youtube and netflix too! Couldn’t figure out Casting but netflix was more than enough to spend our nights before turning in.Downside: No gym, heating was a bit wonky (heating can go pass your set temperature about 1-2degrees, but can’t adjust back down to cooler temps unless you on the aircon or open the window). Bathtub has no shower curtain too but spillage was manageable. Does not really have a closet to hang clothes.Concierge service was not great, bare minimum (not sure if its due to language). Does not help with deliveries too. Spent a week here but no late checkout given at all. We also spent the christmas holidays at the hotel but there wasnt any additional gifts or benefits. (Stark contrast to the hotel a couple of streets down where we only spent 2nights)Strong recommendation...
