I am a bit confused at all the excellent reviews of this place. We ate at quite a few restaurants all over the island and this one was by far our least favorite.
Food: extremely generic tapas, and not particularly tasty. None of the food was terrible, but it certainly wasn't great. And it cost more than similar meals we had with much better food. The sangria was NOT good, tasted like sour grape juice. They do have a kid menu with very generic kid food (burgers, spaghetti).
Service: everyone we met was very friendly. The "Greeter" (who was trying to get people off the street to come to the restaurant) was great with our daughter and kept her entertained through the meal. Our waiter was very nice as well. When asked, he was able to get a "kid sangria' for our daughter with grape juice and fruit. Hers was better than ours, lol. Food came out fairly quickly. It took a few tries to get the check.
Atmosphere: It is in an extremely touristy section of town, there was a lot going on all around, random people kept trying to sell us cheap souvenirs while we ate, no ocean view. One tiny crowded bathroom with lines.
Overall- complete tourist trap. There are WAY better meals for less money if you are willing to walk a few blocks away.
EDIT: this is definitely the correct restaurant. Menu and photo are the same. It was not alcoholic kid sangria, it was grape juice and fruit, specially made by our waiter at...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy husband, my 2.5yo toddler and I really enjoyed El Olivo during our 1 week holiday in Tenerife. So much so that we went there every single day for lunch after first discovering it! If you have a baby or toddler and are looking for a spot where you wonāt be a bother, this is it. Itās also large enough that you can be seated closer or further away from other fellow diners. We were having a difficult week with our little boy, and these guys just went above and beyond to help out with him. From Marcelo to Julian, to the young guy with the scooter (Ayman?), they kept taking it in turns to come round, ask how everything was, and distract our little boy for a few minutes so we could finish our meal. Our little boy is now best of friends with them all! And in terms of the food, Iām Spanish and was looking for the least-touristy restaurant in this area, and I think this was it. We had paella, fideuĆ”, calamares, chipirones, typical Canarian desserts⦠all was freshly cooked. They also brought out the toddler food beforehand so he wouldnāt get hangry, and even added fresh veggies to his plate when I asked if they could do that for us. Simply 10/10, you wonāt regret it. Ā Ā Ā Read moreMmm, we were very disappointed compared to others nearby. We've been to Costa Adeje many times and usually eat at places we know are too our taste. This time we thought we would try the El Olivio. The previous night we had tapas at the Orange cafe and for 63 euros and received lovely tapas for 3, sangria, beers and desert - with very good banter from all the staff and lovely sea views at sunset. The food at the El Olivio was not nearly as nice, the banter was polar (our waiter had no chat and was dour, a couple of others however seemed very nice and made an effort). We had lack lustre tapas, a tasteless rabbit dish, wine and beer -no desert and ā¬103 euros (no complimentary post meal aperitifš). Being Scottish we still went on and had a good night (Carpe Diem!). In my view if you are running a restaurant in a holiday resort you need to play the game and make it a win win for both parties. Others nearby such as the Colala, Orange cafe, San Sebastian, El Makami tick all the boxes. I've learned my lesson and now look for restaurants I've not tried to have many 100s or 1000s of reviews not a...
