My first visit to Coeur de Filet was about 4 years ago... few more times since then till our last visit which was almost a year ago... here's why.
Ambiance is okay but nothing spectacular. Service is hit or a miss in past 4 years. Food... well, let’s talk about that.
I'm a carnivore and I have dined at some of the finest Steak houses in USA such as Ruth Chris, Shula's, Mastro's for their bone-in Filet Mignon... etc. as well as fresh Texas steak houses... throughout 33 States. One of the things I love about grilled steak is their grilled marks- the additional taste it brings to my pallets which is one of key items I look for when looking for a great steak restaurant. I did not find it here. Though cut is OK for Tenerife, but in my personal experience, steaks here are over hyped.
Our last visit to Coeur de Filet, we started with the asparagus in cream and salmon with capers which was worth the try. For my main, I ordered rack of lamb while my husband had his usual Filet with foie gras (please see photo). I was at first impressed with the size of the rack... but soon after, realized there was literally 4-5 mid-size bites to the racks as remains were covered in fat- no meat at all. Huge disappointment to our surprise for the price!
Unfortunately, though each plate was well presented, I knew this was nothing to write home about from our 1st meal 4 years ago to our last...
Read moreOutstanding food at very reasonable prices. We went here for dinner on a Sunday night, and I'm glad we booked as the place was full throughout. We had a glass each of the house red and white wine, both very quaffable, and the saffron prawn garlic small risotto and lobster bisque as starters. All of these were delicious, and after adding a bit of salt (personal taste), we polished off our plates! Next up were the mains - the fettuccine coeur de filet with a delicious mushroom and red wine sauce, and the blue cheese coeur de filet with potatoes - absolutely lush, and again, we cleaned our plates. Everything was perfectly cooked, the portions were generous, and the service very friendly, if a bit erratic (they forgot to bring our second bottle of water, and we had to ask twice for the bill - maybe slightly understaffed?). I definitely recommend this as a top choice for a meal on this part of...
Read moreI went with my wife and two year old son. For starters we ordered the raviolinis and the tempura shrimps. The shrimp were OK, but the raviolinis were with no doubt the show stealer. It is hard to believe that such a delicious dish is not a main course item. Really spectacular.
For our main courses we ordered the spaghetti fruti di mare and the filet mignon costa negra. To be completely honest the spaghetti did not meet the standard we hoped for, we felt a little dissapointed by it. But the filet mignon was nothing but spectacular as well. It was served exactly how I ordered it and the reduction on top of it was extraordinarily flavorful.
As for the service, absolutely fantastic. Zero complains. The waiter was nothing but polite and attentive even when the restaurant suddenly was booked to the top.
All in all a fantastic experience, we definetly recommend this place and will be...
