A hidden gem tucked away off the small high street in Playa Paraiso. A must try for true Canarian cuisine.
Tucked just off of the main road in Playa Paraiso, La Tasca Canaria is hidden away with the outdoor tables situated on a small courtyard outside the small kitchen in what would appear to be a small converted shop. Staff are very friendly upon entry, and once seated outside in the cool evening prepare for what lies in store.
To start bread, and a wonderful selection of local dips as well as a local spiced cheese and olives can be ordered for €10 as an appetiser. Coupled with an array of flavours to compliment, the bread is delicate and light. My partner and I then started with the Croquetas Con Alioli & Queso Asado Con Mojo. The croquettes are filled with a local fish, and topped with alioli, and are a wonderful light starter packed full of flavour. The Queso Asado Con Mojo is a delicate locally sourced goats cheesed, drizzled with honey. Both are exquisite despite having a very small price of €6.
To follow for mains we had the Conejo, a delightful stewed rabbit with canary potatoes in a broth, and Carne Con Papas, a tender beef stew with homemade fries. The rabbit was tender and full of flavour, with meat easing off the bone. The potatoes complimenting with a crisp and soft texture and wonderful array of flavours having soaked in the broth.
The beef stew is very tender with the meat falling away in your mouth, complimented with wonderfully seasoned fries, and a flavoursome broth.
To finish, a special home made dessert of vanilla ice cream, a caramel sauce and biscuit with another hidden ingredient. Words will not do justice to this incredible finisher with both of us sat speechless.
All of this complemented with home made Sangria, a delightful smile from our very friendly waitress. Exquisite freshly made Canarian cuisine that is not...
Read moreWent here because of the positive reviews. Left very disappointed. No starters were available because apparently the delivery hadn’t come in that day. Strange as it was just bread, olives and mojo that was listed. Had some ham croquettes instead which were mediocre.
When it came to the main course, my roast chicken was stone cold in the middle, so had obviously been pre-cooked but not reheated properly. There was also a big piece of transparent plastic that I found mixed in with the dish whilst eating it. My wife had fish, which was disappointingly small and bland given the price and that it was salt baked.
At least the owner took the chicken off the bill. I would definitely not recommend this...
Read moreWe ate here twice on our holiday - the first night and the last night. Brilliant! Tommaso was an excellent waiter who was very attentive and helpful. Between the two visits we tried most of the menu. Portions are very generous and great for the price. Chicken and rabbit were both good but the standouts were the goat stew and the beef stew - the meat was so tender and flavorful. We enjoyed all the starters, especially the mojo with bread and the grilled cheese with honey sauce. They only had one dessert available on each of the nights we went - it was ice cream with cookies and sauce and something else broken up through it - no idea what but we loved it and all ordered it...
