Restaurant 88 — Restaurant in Adeje

Dear 88 Restaurant Team,

this is (was?) the favourite restaurant of my wife and me.

Let me explain why we are so very upset:

We discovered this great place 12 month ago when we spend 4month over the winter in Tenerife.

We decided to return to Tenerife this year for the winter again. We have therefore prebooked our table at our favourite 88 restaurant several month in advance already from Germany prior to our arrival to Tenerife. 12! table bookings every week for 12 weeks running always at 1900 at table no 10.

We have last year been treated really great by the previous manager and we thank him very much!

WHAT HAPPEND THIS YEAR? We arrive as usual 10 minutes early to honour our booking and the waitress told us to wait outside for 10 minutes and she will get the table ready and call us in in 10min. So we went back outside waiting.

But she never came out to call us after 10 min. I went in at 1900 and saw that new guests on our table just got served their meal. I did not say nothing and went out again to my wife. We waited until 1915 and my wife got cold waiting outside, so I went back in to check if there is hope to sit down at our table booked for 1900. A gentleman who I beleave was the new manager told me that the people sitting on our table have not finished their meal and we have to wait outside until he calls us in.

He did not say sorry for the delay, he did not apologize, he did not have any nice words.

I said to him I wish he could be a little friendly to me, which he did not react to.

Yesterday I insidently met the old manager from last year visiting another restaurant KENSAI from the same group. There we had the same great welcome which we always had last year at 88.

I now wonder if I will have a responce from the management to my bad experiance at 88 as a very regular customer.

For now I have cancelled our regular table no 10 booked for next week, because my wife and I are so upset and hard broken.

Was looking forward to visiting this restaurant after seeing so many good reviews. My sister-in-law booked a special brunch deal for today via the “ Venture” app which said this deal was from 1.30. -3.30pm daily. We booked the last slot for 3.30pm and we’re looking forward to our visit. On arrival however at 3.25pm we were advised by our waitress that we could not have the special “Brunch” deal as it ended at 3.00pm!!! Very strange as we had booked this via the My Venture app which specified the time slots were from 1.30-3.30pm and therefore we were within the specified time.

Waitress was quite adamant that we could not dine via the Bruch deal and would have to dine via the normal menu. If the Venture app had said last bookings were 3.00pm then we would have booked for this time. Not at all a good customer experience and so disappointed with attitude of the restaurant staff as we had booked in good faith within the allotted time span for this meal deal.

So be aware that you may have to book earlier than the time slots advertised if you wish to get the “Brunch” deal at this restaurant and also they should say on the online booking what the last booking slot is for this offer. Feel really let down by attitude of restaurant staff as we clearly explained we had booked in good faith within the allocated time slots.

After that poor experience I am glad to say we went to a neighbouring restaurant, with lovely staff and where we had a fabulous meal and probably spent about 3 times the amount we would have had at...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Restaurant 88 and I must say, I was thoroughly impressed. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a friendly host who immediately made me feel at home.
