I arrived here by chance after taking an unchartered hike along the coastal paths nearby. My t shirt had been damaged from the rocks and was no longer wearable due to the amount of sweat and dirt it had accumulated. I was wearing it over my neck and ears to protect from the sun and was in search of any hydration I could find. They seated me and took my order (which was incredibly slow, considering it was 2 drinks and ice cream). Upon receiving my order, I was told that I would need to wear a shirt (which I fully understand!). I explained my situation and said that this wasn't how I planned to arrive here and asked for the bill so I could leave as quickly as possible. I asked for a taxi to be called so I could get back to my accommodation as I was badly burned and was genuinely scared to face the sun again. I was told rather sarcastically that they dont know the number for any local taxi companies (what utter nonsense!). Maybe explain your clothing policies before giving guests a menu and a table. I understand you don't want shirtless tourists at your establishment and that's fair; but to seat me and take my order and then provide me with no help when I've explained I've been lost for hours is close to evil. Elitist attitude with slow service followed with an unfriendly nature and blatant lies. There's so many friendly people in the surrounding area with big hearts, but you won't find them...
Read moreWe visited La Calva on a Friday evening. The restaurant is located on the second line from the sea, right by the roadside in a corner building. It’s a very simple place, and we appreciated that we could get a table without a reservation, which is rare in such a busy, touristy area.
We sat outside, which was pleasant, though the view isn’t anything special—mainly the road and nearby parking lot, not the sea. Speaking of parking, while there are free parking spots in the area, they were all taken, likely because of the high tourist traffic.
The menu prices are not the cheapest. Pizzas were around €14, main dishes between €14-15, coffee/tea about €3, and soft drinks around €4. Not super expensive, but definitely on the higher side for a simple setting.
One major downside was the waiting time. We waited around 40 minutes for our food, even though we didn’t order anything complicated. That felt excessive, especially considering the restaurant wasn’t full.
The food itself was okay—nothing outstanding, but decent. Overall, the location is convenient, the ambience is casual, but the slow service and average views don’t quite justify the...
Read moreCame here for a Gin and Tonic, had been on the first night it opened and was lovely,. The waitress offered me Iberico ham and cheese, I presumed this was a free taster so accepted, expecting a few pieces of cheese and ham. A plate of ham and cheese and our Gin and tonics arrived, I though it was a fair amount for a freebie but continued anyway thinking it was their opening weekend and they wanted to impress their customers. When the bill arrived I was charged €65 I spoke to the waitress and said I was led to believe that the food was complimentary as she had offered it to me, she denied all knowledge of offering it to me and said that I had ordered it. Not wanting to cause a scene I paid the bill and left but was really amazed that I went for 2 drinks and ended up paying €65. I tried to argue with the waitress but she was having none of it. I won’t be returning! If you are offered extras here please don’t take them as you do have to pay!! I was more annoyed that the waitress denied offering us the food than anything else and wish I’d have taken the matter further but I really hate complaining and causing a...
